Tail suddenly bent - not broken?

My cat's tail, obviously. He's 12, in good health, Potters in and out but doesn't go far really. He's an absolute lamb.
I noticed yesterday that his normally 'normal' tail was bent - it now goes in an arch when he's relaxed where as previously it was straight.
I does not appear to hurt at all - I can run my hand along it and wiggle it and he doesn't mind, I can't feel any breaks or cuts or nips. But his tail is markedly different.

He's totally fine in all other ways, happy as ever, cuddly and purry as ever. Any ideas why his tail has suddenly bent? It's not a sign that I should be worried about, is it?

Needy little bump.
Please tell me that bent tail is not somehow a symptom of a stroke or a neurological illness?

No idea sorry.

Call to the vet I think.

I don't know. Our cats was a bit bent after I trapped it in a upvc window but its ok now.

Vets?.

This happened to our mog. A cat bite abscess was pressing on the spinal cord and had paralysed the tail. He had antibiotics and when the abscess burst and drained he recovered fully.

Yikes, maybe he does need a vet trip then! I was hoping you'd just say oh no, tail droop is utterly normal and common and fine'.

It's odd tho as there is no bite, no hurt, no mark. It's just now an arch where as previously it was mostly straight.

The poor sod hates the vet Sad. Well, hates the car.

Yes we've had this too and like fail it was an abscess. His tail was at a funny half-mast for a good number of days. I hope he is back on the straight and narrow soon! Cake
