Omg frontline has stopped working!

My cats are up to date with frontline treatment

Dd for the last week has been getting random bites

Cat sat on my knee tonight -flea!

My house is infested isn't it?

Oh yes I feel your pain. We have treated the cat twice and he is still infested. Yesterday DP brought me a piece of tissue with 5 dead fleas on it and shudderingly announced we needed to flea bomb the house. Resilient little fuckers!

I've just picked a flea from DD1's arm. They love her (saves me getting bitten)

We've just got a prescription stuff from the vet. It's beginning to work. At one point last week I would walk around the house picking off the little buggers from my feet (and squishing them) before they got DD. It's a weird hobby but someone had to do it.

I stopped using frontline last year after it no longer worked on my two cats and we had a flea problem. I've read it doesn't work anymore in some parts of country, I use stronghold from vets now that seems to work

just done mine, am £55 quid poorer, which pisses me right off.

Collect all throws, cushion covers, duvet covers and wash. or bag up if you can't wash/dry all in one go.

I use advocate now too, but you have to get it from the vets. It does work though, unlike frontline

We've been using Stronghold from the vets for 18mths but have still managed to get an infestation.

Now swapping to Advantage and all 3 cats have had a Program injection. Pest control are booked to come and treat the house after half term

Omg we have this problem too. Cats treated twice but still finding fleas. Little fuckers.

Quick question, do I have to take the cat to the vets or can they just prescribe treatment without seeing the little fleabag? Our vets have weird opening hours.

My vet will prescribe as long as they've ever seen the cat. So one of my cats can get it but not the other. But I accidentally fall over while holding the pipette and it fell on DCat2.

OOooops.

I do need to take Dcat2 to have his teeth checked sometime...

I was wondering why I keep finding the little buggers on me.

Off to the vet for Advocat then.

I use broadline as found two buggers on the cat. He's clear and I indorexed the house and haven't seen another one since. The vet couldn't find any flecks or fleas on the cat and I've not seen any since central heating coming on either. Hoping we're good. Have resprayed the house again since about six weeks later as the vet recommended I did. Cat much happier and I've not seen any fleas or noticed any bites. Cat roams the whole house as he's treated so will hopefully kill off any of the buggers.

Hoover and spray the inside of it as well.

Stopped working on ours too. Vet was having none of it when I phoned to say they've got fleas after their frontline treatment and made me trek in with them both to tell me, 'well, they do have fleas, I'll not charge you for the consultation but maybe you should try advocat'. Hmmm no shit Sherlock.

Prescription ones from vet here, too. Expensive, though. Our vet will supply for 3 cats even though only one of them has ever been there.

Oh and I was advised not to exclude cats from the house after they have had the Advocate but to continue letting them in, as the fleas, if you have them in the house, will jump back on the cats and then die.

I was recommended Advantage, which you can buy on Amazon - if you have several cats it's more economical to buy the dog version (which is identical but comes in bigger pipettes) and a tiny syringe to apply - saved me a fortune. So far, no fleas where Frontline failed miserably.

I was just about to recommend advantage from Amazon but I see that lovecat got there first, I'm lucky enough to have 2 dogs and 3 cats that have all been treated twice over with 1 large dog advantage treatment.

I've tried loads of treatments over the years( frontline, advocate ) but nothing works as well as advantage.

My pets (including my indoor, pedigree posh cat) all seem to attract fleas but advantage is the only treatment that stops the scratching

Whilst I appreciate lovecat splitting a dog vial on cats can save you money please remember that for many products this is not safe as dog products contains drugs which kill cats. Also if you do this if there is a problem even the dog product contains the same as the cat product, but in great volumes you have no come back to the drug company.

Jenni the flea killing drug in advantage is also in advocate, but advocate has other drugs that prevent breeding in the house.
This year has been a really bad year for fleas and ticks due to the lack of frosts last winter.

Frontline stopped working here years ago. I use Stronghold and mum uses Advocate.

When we bought our house it was full of fleas, we got our cat and made sure that we treated her regularly with the Stronghold and the fleas were gone very quickly. They can't survive without an animal to live on and because she was treated they just died.

Frontline didn't work on my cats, Advocate so far has been okay. Dd although has had two bites on her this week, am wondering if it is heating on related.... going to do a proper hoover and sheet wash session once I get off my bum and mn soon.

I pay £10 a month and that covers all flea treatment (advocate) worming and boosters for the year. This works out quite a bit cheaper.

Advantage (online purchase) for the cat and Indorex for the house have blasted the flea issue away in our house. Total cost was just under £20 for both so a bargain as far as I am concerned.

Are you using the right dose frontline for your cat's weight? 2 of ours are over 4 kg so need the higher dosage to be effective. Advocaat & Frontline Combo only have one dosage size (up to 7kg) so weight not something to adjust for.

Our two have Stronghold. It seems to still be working well. I try very hard not to forget and to keep up to date each month with the treatment. No problems so far.

We use advocate here. I get the prescription from the vet, then buy the stuff online as it's much cheaper (also, I use Quidco and get cash back on purchase too).
