We collected our kittens earlier and they're settling in nicely... Timid at first but have been exploring and playing :)

The ginger one is called Ron (male) and the black one is called Mamba (female).

We think Mamba has fleas so I'm just popping out to the vet to get some treatment... So hard to tear myself away!

They are just under 9 weeks (will be 9 weeks on Tuesday). The lady at the vets said at that age I need to bring them in to be treated for fleas, so the nurse can weigh them and get the dose exactly right. I'm taking them in for their first vaccination soon so I'll ask for flea treatment at the same time.

They've chosen a strange place to sleep - on a shelf behind a big box! I guess they've decided it's the safest place as they're hidden away. Frustrating for us but I know they just need a bit of time.

Do it Monday, fleas are much more dangerous for kittens because of their size.

You need to buy indorex spray for the house too so you don't get an infested house.

Pick off the fleas you can see & crush them inbetween your nail & a flat surface. Fleas are tough little sods.

timtam23 · 18/10/2014 21:40

My 7 wk old stray kitten had to have a special flea spray at the vets as he was too little for Advocate/Frontline spot-ons
I also tried a flea comb which was very effective (rub a bit of Vaseline along the teeth to stop the fleas jumping away again)

catsofa · 18/10/2014 22:16

Grin I'm sure Ron will grow into those ears eventually! They are gorgeous.

They are very cute!!! Mine hid under the bed at first but after a day or so started bouncing around and are now frankly bonkers Grin Enjoy your babies!!

NameChange30 · 19/10/2014 18:15

Thanks everyone! They seem to be doing well, either going crazy or fast asleep in a hiding place! So it's difficult to get photos, but I'll keep trying :)
I will call the vets tomorrow to see if I can get their appt brought forward, so they can be checked and treated for fleas sooner rather than later. Mamba was scratching a bit yesterday but not so much today.. I'll see if she stays still long enough for us to brush her with the flea comb!
Leaving for work tomorrow is going to be hard... DH is lucky as he works from home so he can stay with them all day.

Envy of your pretty kittens. Loving Ron's ears!

Until you can get them seen, flea comb them and then put any you find straight in soapy water.

We do not have room for any more cats, we do not have room for any more cats, we do not have room...

NameChange30 · 19/10/2014 20:43

They're sleeping on the sofa in between us Grin

Well they definitely have fleas! We managed to keep them still long enough to flea comb them (!) and DH found 4 fleas on Ron. Ew ew ew. They're 9 weeks today so we're taking them to the vets this afternoon for flea treatment and their first vaccination. Poor babies, hope it won't be too traumatising for them!
