Cat not come home

Dogmatix34 · 09/10/2014 21:07

Our lovely one year old tabby has not come home for his dinner. He was last seen this morning at around 8. He is microchipped. What should we do? He has never done anything like this before and I am very worried.

Oh it's awful isn't it? Have you had thunder and lightening?mwe have here and it's sent my 7 month old cats a bit loopy. Could you cat be a bit spooked and be hiding somewhere?

Dogmatix34 · 09/10/2014 21:21

We have had thunder yes. He isn't really a nervy cat though he doesn't like loud noises. I really don't know what to do. Have rung local vet but he hasn't been handed in.

Keep calling him, go for a walk tomorrow & check under bushes etc. You can alert the microchip company too.

Dogmatix34 · 09/10/2014 21:52

I've informed microchip company, thanks for the advice. Really hoping he'll just turn up tomorrow.

Is he neutered?

Oh dear so horrible for you

Dogmatix34 · 09/10/2014 22:03

He is neutered yes. My big fear is that he has been run over as we live on quite a busy road but presumably the vets would know and check his microchip if that is the case? His sister is in and looks a bit perturbed. Wish she could talk!

Dogmatix I know how you feel, my cat darted out of the door on Wednesday evening and I've not seen him since. I am so worried, he normally only goes out for an hour or two.

I have contacted the vets and I am printing some posters now to put up in the local area, I've been out for a couple of hours each day/night calling him and shaking treats but no sign.

I hope your cat comes home safe soon.

Knock on all your neighbour's doors and get them to check their gardens, sheds, garages. Also get them to check in their houses, inc cupboards and under beds. Next door lost their cat for a few days, I fund her under the bed in my spare room. She was terrified but totally silent and hadn't even done a wee.

goshhhhhh · 10/10/2014 17:04

Fingers crossed - hope he comes home. It's horrible when they go for a walkabout, especially the first time. Mine have done it a few times now. It is worth asking the neighbours.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/10/2014 17:26

Good grief code, I bet that was a shock.

spudmasher · 10/10/2014 20:20

Any news Dog?

code · 10/10/2014 21:03

Fluffycloud a shock it was. More that she hadn't made a peep (we are a quiet house) or done a wee than anything.

Dogmatix34 · 10/10/2014 21:18

No news unfortunately. Was really hoping he would be there when I got back tonight. Have told the neighbours and put a couple of posters up. Will put more posters up tomorrow. So sorry you are going through the same thing SayraT. Hope we both get good news soon

Is he insured? Some policy's cover printing flyers for missing cats.

If you go out at night and shine a torch about their eyes glow, it's how dh used to find ours in fields at 1am when he was having fun hunting rabbits.

Is there a facebook spotted page for your area? I've seen lost cats on ours.

munchkin2902 · 10/10/2014 21:29

Oh I'm sorry. It could have been the thunder. My Max went out at 4 last night when I got home from work - he usually comes in around 8 but didn't see him all night and ended up dreaming he was on the end of the bed when he wasn't! But when I woke up at 6 he was in his usual spot - soaking wet! I'm sure he was sheltering somewhere freaked out by the thunder. Fingers crossed for you.

SayraT · 10/10/2014 21:29

Got my fingers crossed for you dog

I know that some cats go adventures for a couple of days and are ok but its worrying when they aren't the type to do that. I'm not sure if I am over reacting because mine has only been gone since Wednesday but its so out of character. Sounds the same for yours, not something he has done before.

Wish I had one of those GPS trackers now!

Dogmatix34 · 10/10/2014 21:46

Think my insurance does cover that Fluffy thanks for the reminder. I had four different dreams last night about him coming home elfo! Very realistic dreams which I kept thinking were real. Might get one of those gps when he comes back Sayra

Have you asked all your neighbours to open up their sheds and garages? He will be inside somewhere nearby I'll bet. Knock on doors and ask them to open up. He'll be back I'm sure.

Pipbin · 11/10/2014 17:22

Any news? I go crazy if mine is out for more than an hour.

SayraT · 11/10/2014 17:32

Hope your cat turns up soon dog

Mine appeared cold, tired and hungry at midnight last night. He has stayed in all day.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 11/10/2014 17:36

I hope he's home soon.
Our fat tabby disappeared on Thursday night. DH found him locked in a neighbours outbuilding on Friday afternoon.
Unfortunately because DH found and released him FatTabby seems to think DH was responsible for his incarceration and is refusing to have anything to do with him.
The irony is DH spent several hours searching for his beloved boy.

code · 11/10/2014 17:42

any news? I hope he's back home now.

ladybird69 · 11/10/2014 18:05

Hi any news? I know how you feel mine went missing for 3 weeks and was found 12 miles away! He was found thanks to CPL they have missing/found gallery on their website. Also Facebook have local buying/selling pages where the lady that actually had found him had posted too. Good luck Op hope your baby's home soon x

Lovelydiscusfish · 11/10/2014 19:22

I know this might sound daft, but have you checked your cupboards/drawers. My cat disappeared for about 48 hours recently, and turned out to have been shut in dh's sock drawer. She didn't meow or anything. Luckily it's a massive sock drawer, so she was ok. Dh felt very guilty, though!

Dogmatix34 · 11/10/2014 21:28

Still no sign unfortunately. Pleased to hear your cat is back though sayra. We've put posters up in our street and nearby. Will have a look on CPL website
