Does anybody use these? What brand do you use and how effective are they?

I've got a Loc8tor Cat.

It tracks your cat up to 200m if I recall, which doesn't sound that far, but the receiver is handheld, so you can walk around your cat's known haunts with it.

We got ours when one of our cats kept getting himself locked into various neighbours' cellars.

I wouldn't be without it now, it's really helped put my mind at rest. We recently began to let our 7 month old kitten out on his own, and knowing he had one of these on his collar made it a lot less nerve-wracking.

thank you. We have just got two kittens and I'm already worried about them going missing. Our older car went awol last year and came back with a broken tail.

Is the only way of using these on a collar? Our cat is expert at removing collars within a few minutes of having them put on (vain attempt at alerting local wildlife to his presence ..)

I don't think there is another way of attaching these devices, apart from with a collar.

I've got a G-Paws GPS tracker for my 14 year old rescue boy. It doesn't track in real time - you download the info when the cat returns, detach unit and download. It is quite an eye opener how far he goes. If you want to know where your cat is at a precise time this won't be any use but for wanting to know his regular hangouts and range, it's great. I think they are modifying it to show other cats in your area. The only disadvantage is it worries me how far he goes and what he gets up to - crossing roads, wading in streams. At 14 I thought he'd be sleeping a lot!

The usual beating the bounds trip!
