Is it sensible to get my kittens neutered at the same time?

Just about to book my kittens (nearly 16 weeks old) to be done. They are very lively and rough eachother up a fair bit when playing and I am concerned how Ophelia will feel afterwards compared to Oberon.. he's a bolshy little thing and unlikely to leave her in peace! Separating them will be nigh on impossible due to how our home is configured and she cries pathetically if she can't find him and he has already figured out how to jump up to door handles and hang to open them!!!!

Any tips on how to keep her comfy afterwards? I suspect he won't even notice that he has lost his furry bits Grin but she is quite delicate (and totally gorgeous!)

I know that other posters on here have reported different experiences, but in my vast experience of just=neutered cats (I keep neuter/return cats in my spare room for five days to a week after neutering before the 'return' part), none ever seem to be in any way affected by it at all.

Male or female they are all running around in a couple of hours, eating normally etc etc. You wouldn't know anything had been done. We do use 'internal' stitches for the females though, so no cones. I think cones piss them off and can upset them.

So certainly have them both done at the same time.

I sort of had this recently. I was worried my (very bitey) mog would hurt the sweet natured devon kitten after neutering. In fact, devon kitten was like a whirling dervish on return from the vet's. Bitey MCat was scared of him.

They will be fine.

An advantage is that they will both smell of vet so won't think one is an imposter.

Somewhere I have a pick of two foster kittens making a cross on the floor with female FK showing of her shaved bit.

Hi, we had both ours done at the same time, they were around 5 months at the time. I think it was harder on our girl cat, she was a bit miserable and out of sorts for a day or two.

Ours were the opposite to how yours sound, girl cat was always the trouble maker and tortured boy cat, who was a little smaller when they were kittens. I was surprised he didn't take the opportunity to get his own back on her but he was very sweet, lying beside her and giving her a wee lick from time to time. I didn't bother trying to separate them afterwards, and they both recovered very quickly... neutered on the Friday and back to bouncing off the walls again by the Monday morning :)
