MKitten teething, sore.

Poor little man has been pawing at his mouth, intermittently, whilst sticking his tongue out as far as he can. Even yelping in pain on one occasion.

Took him to vet's today. She had a look in his mouth and said it's his adult teeth coming through.

I've never experienced a teething kitten having such a painful time with it. this doesn't affect him all the time, only happening a few times over several days. This aside, he's his usual happy self, still enjoying his food.

Do any of you have experience of this?

I remember being nibbled incessantly when mine were teething but they're 12 and 11 now so had forgotten! Does he have toys he can chew on for relief? Get a something with catnip in so least he can get high....

No I've never had that.

Did the vet say if its common?

Juney, gave him a little Metacam according to vets, so he is a having a drugged snooze on my legs. (He's got so heavy!) Got a stash of Zylkene for emergencies. He also has some chewy toys. Also his own supply of catnip growing in the garden.

Fluffy, as soon as vet looked in his mouth, she knew what it was, and pointed out several new teeth coming through.

Was convinced he had Feline Orofacial Pain.

I recall that when Firstcat lost his baby teeth I thought something dreadful was happening to his mouth - I just didn't know that cats 'teethed'. (I was very young.)

He's such a gorgeous chap. Poor little thing.

He's now woken up Cozie.

I have found it necessary to remove all vases or anything else breakable, due to him racing around like a loony. He seems to get very high from any pain meds. Or perhaps it is the absence of pain, that they provide?

It could be that I suppose - but I reckon he's probably just high as a kite! It shouldn't last for too long so i'd keep him on the meds only as long as you need to. I've never, myself, had a cat who was in bad pain from adult teeth coming through. Poor lad.

He has crashed again. He seems to need to be near to me. Poor babby.

What breed is he? He looks gorgeous and sheep-y fluffy

He's a Devon Rex Juney. His fur is unbelievably soft to the touch, like silk.
