She's learned her trade now is all. Smile

moonbells · 26/08/2014 15:21

My sympathies. Moonkitten found his spurs a few weeks back and we're now up to four pigeons, one squirrel and several fledglings. He's 16mo so we are both in for the long haul I'm afraid.

chockbic · 26/08/2014 15:26

Is it true that female cats hunt more?

If its any consolation they do tend to slow down a bit as they age.

Once got left a bird that had been plucked clean. Must have taken hours!

cozietoesie · 26/08/2014 15:44

But plucked by who is the question..... (Bet it was nicked from somewhere. Wink)

crazynanna · 26/08/2014 15:47

My Pops just hunts Dreamies [winks]

chockbic · 26/08/2014 15:48

It was she alright. Had a mountain of feathers on the floor to show for it.

One very pleased looking mog, with an oven ready bird.

If you like that sort of thing Grin

cozietoesie · 26/08/2014 16:08

I stand corrected - and what an asset to have around the house. If you could only get her to peel potatoes.............? Grin

dancestomyowntune · 26/08/2014 17:16

It's when she brings them in alive and literally plays with them! Until she gets bored and finishes them off. I mean she's a tiny cat, and this squirrel was almost as big as her! Bleurgh!!!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 26/08/2014 19:24

It should hopefully calm down a little in a month or two as autumn comes in. (Bleaker gardens so less cover, fewer inexperienced young 'uns around, bad weather v a warm house etc etc etc.)

The she'll switch her attention to inside the house. Grin (Resident mice if you have any.)

dancestomyowntune · 26/08/2014 19:25

I wouldn't mind if she was getting mice already resident... she's bringing the same things in!!!

I'm impressed she caught a squirrel!

One of mine specialises in moles Grin

Moonkitten has now brought down a racing pigeon. Sigh.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/08/2014 21:15

My cats raison d'être is to catch a pigeon. He's never managed it.

Little sods decided to stay out tonight, I have been out in pjs trying to get him.

dancestomyowntune · 26/08/2014 22:01

Yep, candy had a pigeon last week. The squirrel was a shock though, I thought they were too clever to be caught by a house cat!

I once came home to a blood dripping wing hanging from the TOP of my 6ft garden gate!! It was like something from a horror film. Vlad is banned from the cat flap as he kills so much!

sashh · 28/08/2014 10:42

dancestomyowntune

My cat is on the left, the one on the right is front next door, in the tree is a squirrel and another cat.

so candy has started hunting...
cozietoesie · 28/08/2014 10:53

I wouldn't give a whole lot for their chances. Yours and next door's look ready to stay there all day.

sashh · 30/08/2014 08:22

Very soon after taking this the squirrel made a dash for another tree and shortly after that to the fence and was gone.

cozietoesie · 30/08/2014 10:25

Bright animal. That's why they're flourishing. (I'm assuming it was a grey?)

Smile
sashh · 31/08/2014 07:41

Yes.

Only the second time I've seen one around here.

But the park, well that is different. They will eat out of your hands.

cozietoesie · 31/08/2014 08:22

Hah! I saw a pretty squirrel in the park when I was about 6 or 7 years old and decided to take him home as a pet. I still have the scars on my wrist these many years later.
