How do they choose cat 'models'?

I was buying cat food today and looking at the kitty pictures on the packaging and it just made me wonder how they get chosen. Also the cats in pet food ads.
Is there a cat modelling agency?
I'm not thinking of doing it btw - I have a gorgeous soppy black boy and nobody wants black cats

There are various ways including specialists who rear cats to fit certain criteria for example the whiskas cat was reared from a kitten for the role. She is incredibly chilled out was entirely chilled out at a product launch in a private members club in London when I meet her.
There are individuals who have certain talents that make them unique. Though this is more dogs.
In general cats are reared for roles and clicker trained from a very young age.

It's fashion too, a few years ago it was silver tabbies or persians, now it's bengals on the cat food boxes.

And black and whites in all sorts of places. (Which is a good thing, I think.)

I just wish, though, that they'd found a different model for that advert where a cat is holding a motivational conference etc. That poor long haired ginger looks quite terrified.

We've always thought our black and white fancies himself as a model. He poses for the camera and everything!

He even has a diva-ish nature, flying into tantrums for no apparent reason.

When I lost my job I determined the only career I could pursue was showing Mr Cory professionally. An elderly, ex-feral mongrel with fur loss, an uncertain temper and several noticeable scars would trounce those persian fluffballs at Crufts, I felt.

I went back to writing because I got another job very fast but I am still convinced Mr C will have his day. So is he. Millions remain ours for the taking.

Cory moggies are equally welcome at shows as pedigrees there are special classes for moggies. However, a good temper is vital entries say firmly cats must not bite the judge.

Any cat show run under GCCF regulations will have non-pedigree class with a variety of classifications such as colour, age, rescue cats etc. I have considered taking the tail less wonder as there is a good chance she old be judged as natural Manx in a non-pedigree class.

It's a toss-up whether Mr Cory will savage the judge or not. On the one hand, he menaced the plumber's assistant for his sausage roll, and backed the unfortunate youth in a corner of the flat for some time until I came home - on the other, he loves the vet's assistant. He's a mercurial operator.

I will research GCCF - I wonder if there is a category 'Most spoiled cat shown by a Spinster.'

Fluffycat is available for photo shoots. I can't promise he won't cower in the corner losing his mind though.

Here is a snap of Mr Cory resting on Sunday evening. He has had three pouches of Gourmet and a chicken thigh and is resting before he starts the Dreamie demands.

He's a big boy isn't he? Maybe it's because he was a Tom for so long.

The breeding toms I've seen have always been bigger than neutered. You are lucky to have him, he's so lovely.

Oh Fluffy, thank you so much. I know I am lucky, I love him to bits. He is smiling in the pic if you can see - because he is slumbering beneath the tin of Dreamies. And lying on his personal down duvet with Frette linen cover.

ASBOcat is quite beautiful, as usual, Fluffy.

Well, Gourmet was on offer so I bought it and it's gone down well. 3 pouches over the evening, the chicken thieved from my plate, and I am glad to say Mr Cory slept well and only woke me up scratching my back for food at 9am.

But Mr C is not overweight, Cozie, so I think it's all right for him to have a bit of a treat sometimes?
