new cat tomorrow, how long to keep in?

hi, got a 9 year old rescue cat arriving tomorrow, been told to keep him in for 4 weeks, really this long or are they being cautious? and any top tips on settling him in.

Yes, i would go with that. Be super careful about opening doors and windows and tell any DC the same. I put post it notes on all external doors saying 'CAT!'
They need the time to get used to your home and know that's where they live.

Re settling in, it very much depends on temperament. Some like to hide for a bit until they have sussed you out, more confident ones settle in quicker.

We say minimum three weeks. Four is better though
