If you can't have a cat flap...

What do you do?
We are thinking if adopting a cat but the back of our house has three sets of patio doors and nowhere to fit a cat flap.
I work part time so would be home most of the time but I'm thinking of the days when we are out most of the day... We have a wooden play house so would this be an idea for when it's too hot/cold/ wet?

I want a cat kennel now, even though Sparkling Cat doesn't need one. Blush

I thought that looked really daft till I saw it was only £39!

This is us. We have a litter tray in the downstairs loo. She will wait to go outside but I like her to have the option when we are out. We also keep her in at night.

All problems are not solved with a cat flap.

We have a cat flap. I'm still up and down at 3am because awkward cat doesn't like using it and everyone else 'didn't hear him howling his head off..' are selectively deaf Hmm

Our doors are mainly glass too. We had a place for a dryer with a low hole through a wall for the ventilation tube. I got a mason's chisel and made the hole bigger and got a catflap with extension sections. We can still lock the cat flap if needs be, can let her out through a door or window, but if we are out then she can get in and out. Best of both worlds.

I'm getting a cat kennel. Even if WeinerCat doesn't use it it will look cute!

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 04/08/2014 08:41

As long as the local cats don't think it's a toilet...

Twonewcats · 04/08/2014 16:00

We don't have a cat flap. I'm in the house a lot, so let them in and out as they please. We have 2 litter trays too. If I am going out, if they are outside then they stay outside till I'm back. If it's raining they seem to find somewhere to shelter, as they are rarely soaking wet when I return.
A catflap is absolutely not a necessity. Ours manage just fine.
In fact a catflap would be a pest to me because if they came in with muddy and wet feet, they'd be all over the settee if I wasn't there to move them onto the floor!

WienerDiva · 04/08/2014 16:14

YeGods, good point. Mind you, WeinerCat may only be 2.5kgs, but she's as feisty as they come with unwanted nosey neighbourhood felines!

PestoSurfissimos · 04/08/2014 16:22

You could always install a

cat cabin outside with a fleecy blanket in, so that the cat has a cosy shelter when you aren't around to let it in.
