Litter trays for a kitten

I'm due to collect my gorgeous little kitten this weekend and have sorted all the bits out other than a litter tray.

I would prefer to have a closed top box (maybe something like the omega) but I'm not sure if it's suitable for a tiny kitten. Would she be better with a standard tray one until she's a bit bigger?

I would start with a standard tray until she's around four months probably. The closed top ones tend to be much higher and she might find it a struggle. I'm only guessing though. Other posters may be able to speak from experience.

I have always used the enclosed litter trays with kittens without any problems. When I picked up our kitten from the breeder, I found out he'd been using one of these already. Just remove the flap, and re-instate it when he's a bit older and familiar with using the cat-flap.

I use an enclosed tray, had no problems when we brought our new kitten home when he was 9 weeks and he'd only used a normal tray before.

I left the flap off to begin with, he's 3 months now and still doesn't get on with it so I'm going to leave it off until he's a bit bigger.

Thanks for the help guys. Kitten doesn't seem to get the closed top tray (just kind of stares at it and whines) so have swapped it for a normal litter tray.

Will try again with a closed tray when he's a bit bigger I think.
