How old were you when you got your first cat?

Following on from more (repetitive) research that says people have their first child at 30, I wanted to ask MNetters when the really important life choice was made - when to get the first kitty.

I was 39, not a moment too soon for me.

Mr Cory congratulates you TCN!

It must be lovely to have a life dedicated to cats. Mind you, I am dedicated to one rescue cat, I suppose, with trivia like my career and love life coming a poor second.

It's funny how once they come in the house you don't get any choice in the matter...

To be fair Corygal I may have overstated things a little. My life is also dedicated to salsa clubs, dancing in general, hot men (as long as the cats approve) and sleeping. But there is still a lot of cat dedication in there, which is not something I could have predicted for my life.

I was 18. Still got the old boy and he's doing really well at the grand age of 16.

There was a move in when I was about 10, a skinny looking tabby, she took to my Mum and nobody else really.

I had my own first cat at 16, who then moved out when he fell in love with the two small girls round the corner. Bless him, he would sit in their toy pushchair.
