Fancy pants litter trays.

I have to take my cat to stay in a flat for a month. I have been looking at the litter trays with doors that have various systems to get rid of the waste straight away. Eg a rolling system or a sifting system. Can anyone recommend one if these? I am trying to eliminate the odours!!!

I've got \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009UHRSMW/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1405286901&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40\this black Curver one)

It looks nice, has a small grid just inside the flap which removes most litter from feet, & keeps any smell inside pretty well; but I use the cat's best wood stuff, & my cats eat Felix Doubly Delicious plus Royal Canin Vet Care Neutered Female bics, & the only awful poos are from adventurous vegetarian diet experiments in the garden Hmm Grin

"walk through the flap into the enclosed tray 75%, leaving the remaining 25% of her body (ie. her arse end) hanging out and then piddle or poo on the floor!"

My cat would totally do this. She would also then probably do a big "HELP ME!" miaow and claim to be stuck.

When she's used the litter tray I have now, she scrapes and paws around her completely at random, rarely managing to actually cover any of what she's deposited. Can often be found scraping the walls, the rug, whatever. All my cat stuff has to be really stupid proof.

Op, did you get a litter box in the end?

I'm not sure that we gave you many suggestions, instead got distracted by my modkat and tales of our daft torties.

If you haven't already, take a peek at zooplus's covered litter boxes. Some are reasonably priced, and like I mentioned before the catit one is quite attractive. I do like bit of animal print Smile

Hope you have managed to sort it out .

Loveleopardprint · 16/07/2014 06:44

I haven't got one yet as still unsure which one to go for. Not really sure I can justify the price of a modkat! Don't need it til next week so I will def go and browse the website.

I enjoyed all the funny tails/tales! Grin

My cat is a Russian blue called Vladimir and he certainly likes to dig and make a right old mess. Confused

Vladimir!!

What a cool name for a cat Grin

Grey and pink tortie like this one only mine is more pink.

RubbishMantra · 16/07/2014 20:33

Ooh, just thought I'd mention this about the rolling system ones. Jackson Galaxy (The Cat Whisperer) went to help a cat who kept peeing everywhere. He said the problem was the rolling litter tray, it spreads the smell of cat pee all around the walls and floor of the thing, making it unpleasant for the cat to use. That's why he was pissing everywhere else but his box.

mrsschadenfreude

What amazing colouring! I bet she's absolutely gorgeous in real life.

That sounds awful about the litter box. I would have thought that the cat litter would have absorbed the urine, or when it's spun the litter 'cleans' the walls. Maybe not. They are certainly big to wash out (heavy? ) and not particularly attractive imo. I suppose the search is still on for the perfect litter tray. If it exists.

Or maybe we can all train our cats to use human toilets. Google it! It's hard to believe.

And would they wipe any 'marks' left after and put the toilet seat down I wonder Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/07/2014 22:09

Mine is also fluffier and more beautiful than that one. Grin

Beautifullymixed · 16/07/2014 23:10

Well of course she's more beautiful!

Mine's a fluffy tortie too, sometimes I look at her coat in amazement wondering how so many colours and shades were fitted into one itty bitty kitty.

Good to know about the rolling tray as that was the one I was initially considering.

Vlad is called that after Vlad the impaler as we got him to kill the mice. He is very good at it and is now banned from the cat flap as he also kills many other creatures of the night!!Confused

here is a blog about a lady who successfully trains her cats to use the (human} loo.

She doesn't mention flushing though...

Beautifullymixed · 17/07/2014 06:16

Oh no, that's not for me at all.
Is bad enough using the toilet after kids (including three ds and I have trained them to wipe the toilet clean/check for marks and flush
Could not come home from work and see the loo full of cat poo, and what about upset tummies....
