It's the sound of a cat and a kitten playing - and the third cat is not doing the horrific blood curdling growl any more!!
Yes it's me again - sorry! For the last week I've been playing bloody labyrinth trying to keep Scabbers separate from Snowers and the kitten as he seems to be truly aggravated by them these days and has been doing those terrible growls. I've been opening and shutting doors like no tomorrow.

However, tonight I had a guest. And I just couldn't be arsed. The result of my laziness is that Scabbers is sleeping happily on my window sill and Snowers and the kitten are playing tig around him. And he's not reacting!! This is a big break through. Long may it last! it won't as the kitten has shunned his own little food bowl and will only eat from Scabbers' - it's almost like he can read and is do it it on purpose!

Didn't believe, actually. I have been quite upset, thinking I'd lost Scabbers forever. I will have to accept he will wander, but he's come back regularly this week. And I think he's so tired he just wants to sleep - he knows the kittens not a threat or anything. If anything it's Snowers who's the shit stirrer! He's properly changed allegiance! he's so friendly though I can't hold it against him.

The kitten is a TURD though. Doesn't appreciate her own smallness - always going after the others' tails! And every time I bring food to the sofa she's up on my knees and shoulders trying to get a lick. She's a great little character!

Cats will tolerate a tremendous amount from a kitten - they realize what they're dealing with. As for Snowers showing his true colours? Well - I think my father (an ex-navy man) would have said 'Two gins and he's anybodys' - but I can't quote that sentiment any more. Scabbers has probably realized that he's still boss cat albeit with a pair of semi-nincompoops as subjects.

Oh that sums up the situation perfectly!! The other 2 are acting like bloody idiots and poor, tired scabbers cant be doing with it! He's acting like the wounded patriarch even though he's only just 2!

Gonig to keep all doors open at bedtime tonight and see what happens. These last few nights Ive had Scabs in with me but who knows - maybe i will get a pic of all 3 cats on my duvet?? (Not holding breath!)

And I'm totally out of pet treats at the moment! My cat food bill seems to be escalating hugely due to, erm, unexpected feeding of another cat. (Trying desperately to shun feelings of responsibility)

Ah - you had Scabs in with you at nightime? How did that work out - did he seem to enjoy it?

Actually though, Ive been a bit mean about Snowers - he's defo taken on the Mum role with the kitten - he plays with her, watches her like a hawk, licks her all over to clean her. He's been great and I am so surprised at that from a Tom to be honest.

Oh he loved it!! He purred like a tank. He hated it when I shut him in the house earlier in the evening while he was eating. Hated it. But when I went to bed he was fine!

You've restored his confidence. A bit of continuing preferential treatment and he'll be fine. (And I doubt the other two will notice to be honest!)

Nah, the other 2 are wrapped up in each other mostly. Except, typically, today, when I had a day off to write school reports. Ive never known attention like it from both of them!!!

What heavenly news! Kitty harmony is the most adorable thing. Can't wait to see the triple shot of them all on the duvet.

scabbers sounds like my old ginger girl whiskey whenever i got a new kitten she tried to kill them with her paws by flattening them, she then would eat all their food to try and starve them out, when that didnt work she would leave home for three days always three days and when that didnt work and the kitten or kittens were still there she would heave a big sigh and then totally have nothing to do with them forever more

Whiskey sounds awesome. Homicidallly minded but awesome nonetheless.

she was fluffy, she would splatter every cat in the neighbourhood they all walked very carefully past our garden not bad for a tiny 2.5 kgs girly she went to the bridge about 3 years ago now kidney failure she was a character

Whiskey sounds hilarious! I love the starving them out tactic - Scabbers has been doing that too with the kitten's food and milk. I'm now convinced this is why the kitten has taken to eating out of Scabbers' dish!
Scabby hasn't come home tonight. I think last nights trauma was too much for him! The kitten, meanwhile, has licked jalapeño juice off my dinner plate. She's bloody infuriating!!
