What do you do to combat fleas?

We frontline religiously, she wears a flea collar, we hoover with a flea collar in the bag, we've sprayed the whole house about 4 times in the last year. But we still find about 1 flea a month and my poor DS's legs always seem to have bites on them.

I'm so annoyed.

I've just purchased one of those flea zapping combs, so we'll see if that makes any difference. Is there anything else we can do?

Get the stuff from the vets Advantage combined or Frontline combined. If you suspect fleas in the house, flea spray the warm spots like radiators and where the cat sleeps. Go nuts with the spray. Laundry Wash on 60 to kill the eggs.

What are you using to spray the house?

For my cat frontline doesn't work at all. We had the same problem, and dd2 gets eaten alive. I asked vet and she said that for some cats, especially those with long fluffy coats, frontline doesn't work. My cat doesn't wear a collar (fluffy hair tangles round it)

We use the vet prescription one, it gets rid of everything. It also gets rid of those in the house over time (flea jumps on the cat to bite, and dies)

But we also changed our cat flap. I realised that several cats were coming in when we were out, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't keep the house flea free. Our door now has a chip entry only, so only our cat can come in (it will programme for as many cats as you like)

Since then I think the house if flea free. (cat is clear, don't find any fleas etc)

BUT dd2 still gets bitten, and last time I asked the vet and she said fleas live in the grass in the same way they live in a carpet, so the garden could be where she is bitten (sigh)

Switch to Advantage, Advocate or Stronghold because fleas have become immune to Frontline. That's why it's not working for you. Then use a good spray like Acclaim or Indorex around the house.
