Kitten with squishy poo...

He had a bit of a squishy (not runny) bottom when he came to live with us two weeks ago. I put it down to him being in a new environment. It cleared up, and came back. Took him to the vets today, she said he was in very good health, perfect weight, but prescribed some Pro-Kolin pro-biotic as a precaution. She seems to think it might be down to rich food (Animonda Carny Kitten & Royal Carny Kitten biscuits) I've decided to stop feeding the Royal Canin biscuits, as they contain cereal, in case he has a cereal intolerance.

He is absolutely full of beans, very bright and happy, good appetite - I just hate to think he might have a painful tummy.

Can they do tests for intolerances at the vet's?

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can help him/reassure me I'm doing all I can to resolve this?

ust feel really sorry for him that he might be uncomfortable

It is advisable to not carry put intolerance tests till kittens are over a year old as like young children they can have temporary intolerances. If the it continues to wax and wane I would ask for a giardia test 90% of the puppies and kittens with diarrhoea we test have this and it is a waxing and waning disease.

Ah, thanks Lone. I've actually had giardia myself, caught it whilst travelling.

I guess I'll take him back in with a poo sample then if it hasn't gone away in a week's time.
