Ideas to tell cats apart please.

We have 2 black cats, brothers, and it's not easy to tell them apart unless you know them.
We have a new cat sitter and one cat requires medication.
So we need to make one of them easily identifiable. Collars are no good as the cat with the medicine has a skin condition round his neck and ears and he itches at a collar making his scabbiness worse. The other cat is a demon collar escaper. They last no more than an hour or two.
Can anyone think of a way I could mark one of them so she can easily tell them apart. I was thinking the cat equivalent of the paint on sheep except I don't think anyone has come up with that yet.

Paint ones claws a nice red Grin

Would one of them sit still for you to trim hair on it somewhere, like its side or something?

I like the shaved patch idea. I would have thought one of the vet nurses at your practice could do that extremely cheaply and quickly - in fact probably for free if you're a regular.

That's a brilliant idea. We have to go to the vet on Thursday to get him steroided up for the time we are away so I'll get them to shave a bit. Maybe he'd do tram lines for me to make him look even more of a bruiser than he does already. I can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks.
