Cat moulting everywhere but won't be brushed...help!!

I have a reasonable short haired tortoise shell moggy who has recently started moulting everywhere. She is 14 months old and so we haven't really had this with her before.

Only problem is she hates being brushed, she is cuddly on her own terms and if you go past her time limit of niceness she bites

At the moment she has taken to lying on DSD's bed all day while we are at work and it's making her bed disgusting with all the hair.
I don't want to start shutting her out of rooms because we only have a small house and we still haven't got round to fitting a catflap.

Any bright ideas on how to reduce here m

How long is her 'time limit of niceness' and when exactly are you attempting to brush her?

It depends on the time of day. In the morning she will sit on your lap for a good 5 mins and head butt me for kisses and cuddles but if you go to get up to get the brush she'll run away.
Later on once she's been fed she'll hang around for a couple of minutes for a quick stroke but will bite you of you aren't motioning to let her out.

If we are sat on the sofa in the evening that's when we try and brush her but she tends to last about 3 brush strokes then pounces on the nearest arm... She's a funny little things

Have you tried a furminator? Gets so much hair off really quickly, really recommend it.

I've seen those but was always worried it would hurt her. Does it make a noise?

No it's just a brush, doesn't seem to hurt at all, if anything I'd say it's nicer for them as goes through their fur much more easily.

We use two combs with our long haired cat, one to brush him with, the other for him to attach and chew on helps if two of us are grooming him...

My long haired cat is much happier to be brushed if you catnip her first!
I would keep brushes dotted round the house, let her head butt and rub her face on it before brushing then stroking then brushing and stop. Slowly increase.
See which brushes she prefers.

We use a Zoom Groom for Harry and he loves it - for a while anyway! I was surprised how much fur it actually gets out of him and I think it acts as a cat massage as well!

We've got a furminator, he rolls over to let dh do his tummy.

We've got one of these and I'm afraid never solved it. Tried every brush and mitt on the market, every trick we could think of.

We pin him down about twice a year when it's really bad, with gardening gloves on, and do him as quickly as possible with the furminator. The vet didn't have any other pearls if wisdom. He does bring up fur balls a bit, but he seems to deal with them. Also I make him spend as much time as possible outside as this helps to remove it. Letting them lie on the bed/sofa all day (which mine would) does not help it come out naturally.

I am devoted to my cat in fact i have lost a partner over her.lol.(dont ever make me choose between you or my cat cat wins everytime).
But i love my cat.
I use a furminator on her 2 or 3 times a week and i have next to no hair left in the flat from her moulting.
She does not always enjoy it !
But doing it a few times a week means i can sneek in a bit of grooming for short amounts of time.
However my motivation is not so much hair in the flat its more to do with stopping her getting fur balls.
By doing it a few times a week she gets use to it (a bit) and some times i have to be a little firm (i have seen cats do this to other cats to groom them) you dont have to pin them down hard just a small anount of pressure and often she will just tolerate it .
However minute she meows or lashes out i stop.
