Kitten milk??

Do kittens need special kitten milk or is it better to give them just water?

Bought home our new little girl today

Also the vet nurse kept saying 'norty torty' that's just nonsense right?!

Water is fine. She's very sweet. What have you called her?

My dd named her Misty

She is now having a mad 5 mins and is attacking the table leg

aww shes georgous and yes people say naughty tortie i think its mainly because torties are girls and girls are usually bossier than boys and kittens dont need kitten milk (marketing ploy) just plain fresh water

They don't actually need kitten milk, it's a marketing ploy like issey says, but some of them like it. My 13 year old cat still does I get it for him occasionally if he's off his food for any reason. I bought it for him originally because when we adopted him he was a tiny, foundling rescue kitten who wasn't old enough to have left his mum, and I thought he might enjoy some milk. He loved it.

She had a few fleas on her (came from a house full of cats) hence why took her to see the vet nurse, they sprayed her with frontline but she is still scratching every few mins anything else I should be doing?

She hasn't drunk any water yet which is why I wondered about milk, she has had some soft food though...

be aware that she needs feeding little and often, about 4 times a day to start with. She'll also want a lot of company.

They get a lot/most of their liquid from the food if they're on wet food. Just leave some bowls of water around.

She did a little wee earlier but that's it so far...

Will she be alright on her own tonight? Was thinking of leaving her in the kitchen, she will have a very cosy bed, litter tray, food, water etc....

Am struggling to remember what we did with our other cat when he was a kitten (it was only 4 yrs ago )

A little wee is excellent - even though small, it means she knows where her tray is and how to use it. That's a biggie with a new kitten/cat.

I'd let her stay by herself if you want although she might like some company as it will be the first night in her life that she's been on her own. (Bet you wouldn't sleep yourself and would be in there every 10 minutes to check on her.) I always have my boys sleeping with me so the question doesn't arise for me - other posters might give you a clearer steer.

I have a Misty it started as 'Mystery cat' because she was a stray.

I bought 'cat milk' because my neighbour's grandson had been giving her cow's milk and he is only 3. The bottle said 'ingredients goat's milk' so I buy goats milk occasionally now.

A very successful first night

She went to bed in her new cosy bed about 10.30pm and I didn't hear a peep until 7am when I went in to check on her, she was still in her bed and came out purring like mad!!

She is so cute and full of beans - think she will keep us on our toes

No Mystified is when she rubs against you and Mystifys you. Mine's also known as 'Her Mistyness' amongst other things

Right ladies we still are having problems with fleas she has been sprayed with frontline but it doesn't seem to have done much, if anything they seem to be getting worse - any advice?

Last night wasn't quite as good but tbf we had a massive electrical storm so not suprised she was a bit unsettled!!

Oh also my other cat is still totally disgusted with this new arrival, will it just take time or is there anything else I can do to help him accept her?
