My cat has dandruff!

Didokitty is a one year old black tortie and has dandruff, especially when I groom her (which she loves) (just small flakes, not like a skin infection) Her fur is otherwise very shiny and healthy. I'm not bothered about it, and she doesn't seem to be either but it is a novelty (last cat I had was mostly white).

Any suggestions as to why? Or if I should do something to "cure" it?

Mine have little flakes too if I groom them quite firmly which they love. Not itchy at all. I just ignore it. It's more noticeable on my tortie because she's dark I suppose. The other cat is mid-grey with gingery blotches.

My cat gets a bit mogdruffy too. There are far fewer flakes if I comb him thoroughly (and quite firmly) every day! He loves it and comes and miaows for his combing session every morning.

Thank you both. Since Didokitty loves to be brushed so much I shall carry on doing that and ignore the mogdruff (such a good name for it!). The perils of getting a dark coloured cat!
