....and not eating very much. We found out last week, she expecting kittens. Was told to feed her on kitten food but she's gone a bit faddy. She was ratting like a horse before, but now not really interested. However she's quite interested in whatever I'm cooking so should I just try several different kitten foods. Could you recommend a good one?

Also she follows me around the house like a lost soul and us very vocal. We are back to the vets in 2 wks anyway. She's not unhappy, just all if a dither.

Is this normal? She looks healthy.

Have you tried Hi-Life pate kitten food all my cats loved it (not just the kittens), its got a high meat content so I think that's why it appeals!

How far along is she?
As I have cared for pregnant cats (albeit a very long time ago) And the behaviour you describe, the attention seeking & losing appetite in my experience was when they were getting ready to start labour.

If she still has a few weeks to go then i'm really not sure if this is normal, its been 16 years or so since i cared for a pregnant cat so memory is a bit hazy!!!
Someone with more knowledge than me will be able to advise better.

Thankyou mandarin, I'll try that cat food. Off to pets at home later. There's a huge selection there.

I wondered about that. Being close to labour, but the vet thought a few weeks yet. She's very lean as her mum was Bengal. The vet could only feel 2 hard lumps so we think only 2 kittens.

She sort of miaowed a lot recently wandering around aimlessly.

Mandarin thankyou for the hi life suggestion. It's the only thing she will eat, but has tucked in brilliantly today.

Sorry not been around much and didn't see your reply.

I am glad she likes the hi-life. As long as she is eating and looking well she should be fine. Am just wondering now if she was hungry as the food you provided wasn't enough to her liking (have had my fill of fussy eaters here!!!)
One of mine will follow me round the house tripping me up, purring and head butting me until I feed him the flavour he's going to eat on that particular day, tis a nightmare!!! Grin

But she may get restless and clingy when she goes into labour you may not be able to leave her alone during the birth. I know I had to stay from the start of labour until she'd finished birthing.

Good luck and do let us know when she has had the kittens!
