New cat has cabin fever...

He's been with us exactly a week. He slept loads for the first few days and is now having intermittent moments of madness (running up and down the lounge, attacking things - including me and DH!).

The rescue centre told us to keep him in for 3 to 4 weeks. DH is adamant that he should stay in for 3 weeks. Is that right? How will we cope?!

You'll cope. This is less stressful than them disappearing.

Is this normal?

Yes, he needs toys so laser pointer, ping pong balls, loo rolls (messy play for cats), squeaky cat nip mice, Da Bird, scratching posts, scratch pads etc.

But yes, pretty normal behaviour for a cat with pent up energy who's dying to get out there & catch prey.
