Why is my cat so annoying before bedtime?

She is curled up on the bed, just stretched herself out, lovely and blissfully chilled. She will stay there until probably 5am if DH didn't kick her out when he gets home.

But, before she settles, she is really really annoying. She climbs, jumps, meows, fusses, creeps on me, sometimes charges around the room, sits on my back meowing into my face. She doesn't always do this at a respectable time either, sometimes it's as late as 11pm-midnight, and it's what gets her booted from the bedroom. It can go on for a good hour or more, but if I go to bed early enough she will get it out the way earlier and settle, or when I just can't be bothered to shift her and DH is out, she does eventually settle. But, when I am asleep and she does it, she wakes me up pouncing on the bed, charging around etc. and she meows really really loudly!

She doesn't need food, or water, and she can get out through the cat flap, so she doesn't need anything.

Is it just a fuss she wants? can't she tell when i am asleep ffs

Clearly you need more training

She probably wants you to play with her before bed.

Clearly you now need to build this into your diary and retire early enough to have your mad time with her before sleep

Is that what it is? Her demands? Aw bless. I don't play with her as much as I used to that's for sure. But, I do have two young children who adore her TBF, DD is now 7.5 and she is starting to take on a proper role with the cats, fussing, playing, feeding, so this cat is getting an idea that she is the new 'owner' and does go into her bedroom when it's her bedtime, but doesn't stay there. Too early I guess!

and why now? at bedtime? why not much earlier? when I can fuss her and play with her? her timing is shite

Her timing is fine remember , what with her being queen of everything

I guess, if she enjoys being constantly booted from the bed as part of her game playing

How old is she? My lovely 3 legged, one eared cat is incredibly vocal at bedtime and wants to get on my head. She's always been full on but never shuts up now she's old - she's a very noisy, permanent shadow!

People and vet have suggested it's due to her age, she's 18 and wants reassurance. Aw I'm a sucker though.

She is 10. I remember my old cat as I grew up being like that, she was part siamese and she made a proper racket! 18 is a great age!

Yeah we've grown old together - she's sat here with me now. Whatever task I'm doing she will jump up to head level and stare fixedly at me and I'm like 'what do you want - what?'

They're ace - I'd never be without a cat and would love a Siamese.

I'd let her in of I were you but as I said I'm a soft touch. My dh just shakes his head and puts up with his bed friend.

She is in. She is fast asleep at the end of my feet, having woken for a moment or two of washing, moving about, back asleep. I have always had at least one cat growing up and currently have two. The other cat can be quite dominant over this little one in a lot of ways, but the bedroom, it's hers. He won't come near it unless he is hungry, he won't just pop in for a fuss at night, this is her territory.

DH is not hugely enamoured by them these days, he tolerates them more than anything.

When she was little, she used to pounce at our feet. I used to move my feet under the covers as I settled to bed and she would spend time pouching on them as I moved them. Not done it for a while. Maybe that's what she wants me to do? I might teach DD that, cat will love it if I do!

I have 2 and a dog. My other cat was a semi feral rescue and is still pretty aloof. She's a proper moggie and does normal cat stuff. Leaves intestines scattered throughout the house.

Bizarrely the geriatric 3 legged one rules the roost, even my large boisterous pointer is absolutely terrified.
