Getting kittens - already have a female cat...have a question

Does it matter what sex the kittens are? Would either sex be less threatening to her? She's 4yrs old and quite placid (and completely gorgeous .

Males can be a bit rambunctious before castration but its a matriarchal society so a female kitten might oust her and be top cat.

How does she react generally to other cats?

Well i had a castrated male and got two females (at separate times), both speyed when old enough. They both liked him but avoided each other.

I now only have one adult female and got a male kitten. She's not impressed but he's very full on at the minute and i expect him to calm down when bigger. Hopefully she'll come round.

The litter we're looking at are all males. I'm not sure whether it is a good idea. She's always lived with boys (castrated) so she's never had a female to compete with before.
