Hi everyone. My son's cat has been lost for a week but via facebook has been found thank God. although only a week he has lost a lot of weight,
has a torn ear, and can't put any weight on his back left leg.
but he is shaking
He hasn't yet been nuetered ( I know!!!) he's due to be done anytime now.
I TOLD them not to let him out.
I assume he is in some sort of shock, and told them to keep him warm hydrated, let him sleep, examine the paw, and if any visible wound to bathe with salt water. They can't take him to the vet until Monday. he has eaten 2 sachets of food, but I have said no more at the moment as it migh make him sick.
Is there any other advice I can give them please.?
Thankyou people.

If the cats leg might be broken they need to get him to a vet.

Do they have insurance?

bigbadbarry · 10/05/2014 13:11

I don't think you can leave it until Monday, he needs to see a vet. Hope they are insured, out of hours is not cheap.

cozietoesie · 10/05/2014 13:14

He needs to be vetted directly, I'm afraid.

PestoSunnyissimos · 10/05/2014 13:14

Go to an emergency vet now!

You can't leave it.

ExitPursuedByABear · 10/05/2014 13:19

Why Monday? Get it to the vet.

thecatneuterer · 10/05/2014 15:14

Pets at Home have vets open all weekend at normal rates. He needs to see a vet now.

Ratbagcatbag · 10/05/2014 15:15

Echo all other posters. Get him to a vet now.

Wolfiefan · 10/05/2014 15:16

You can't leave this, it's animal cruelty not to take an injured pet to a vet.

Please take him, you wouldn't like this to happen to you.

timtam23 · 10/05/2014 16:59

Definitely get him to a vet today, he doesn't sound right at all

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/05/2014 19:57

Any news?

cozietoesie · 10/05/2014 21:35

Did they (or someone) get him to a vet, OP?

Woozlebear · 10/05/2014 21:46

There are 24 hr emergency vets and animal hospitals. Find one and get him there.

If it was a person would you wait for the GP to open on Monday or would you go to A&E?

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/05/2014 19:02

I'm assuming he didn't get taken to a vet then.

Ratbagcatbag · 11/05/2014 19:57

I would assume so too Fluffy. :(

cozietoesie · 12/05/2014 09:30

I guess there was trouble at t'mill.

ozymandiusking · 12/05/2014 21:00

Sorry I haven't got back sooner. They took him to the E. vet
He had a claw missing from the back leg hence not putting any weight on it.Also a bite on the top of his head which was infected. he had a, painkilling injection and an antibiotic injection. oral antibiotics from tomorrow. He has obviously been in a fight.
He has perked up a lot, not completely, but on the up.
Thank you all for your help.

That's good news, ozymandius. I don't care to think of what state he might have been in if a serious infection had caught hold - and the pain meds would have helped a whole load. Sometimes, making them safe and pain free when they come home is all they want from us.

Onwards and upwards, eh? Pom Pom removal (as issey puts it) should assist his roaming and fighting ways.

Thanks for getting back to us.
