My poor boy's having a rough time of it

Last week I noticed my two-year-old boy had urinated on my bed. Hugely unusual for him. He'd also used my bath. So yesterday I noticed him going to his tray every 20 minutes. It seemed like only trickles were coming out as he was literally there for seconds. Queue me phoning the vet with suspicions that he had a UTI.

Took him to the vet yesterday afternoon and it turns out he has stress induced cystitis and when I asked them to check his ears (I noticed he'd been scratching and ear twitchy) and it turns out he has also been suffering from a ear infection. £67, anti inflammatory injection and a course of antibiotics later we went home.

I know antibiotics can take a while to kick in so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help ease his discomfort? I think I know where he may have got the stress induced cystitis from too. There's an alpha Tom living next door and each time my boy goes out he's attacked. Poor sod won't do his business outside anymore either. He actively comes in to use the tray.

I find dreamies are a cure for many ills with my two, we are also chasing a new tom away with water from our garden. He started gaining new territory while we were away on holiday and had someone just popping in for our two.

A couple of glasses later he seems to be backing off and our two are back outside more again.

Felt way might be good in the house to reduce stress?

Does his wee have blood in it? Have you noticed any pink tinged areas in the litter tray?

I only ask 'cos our boy developed problems when put on a dry diet. The vet said some neutered toms can be susceptible. Something to do with crystals. We changed back to wet food.

Thanks, Love, I think water may be the only option. I just hope it keeps him away. I do feel for the poor sod, though. He needs to be neutered tbh. I'm half tempted to do a bit of catnapping and taking him myself as there's a free neuter scheme running in my area. I don't think that would go down too well with next door though...

Good point about Felliway. I didn't think of that one! Will give it a go, in the hope it helps him de-stress.

bird, there's no blood but I have been keeping an eye that he's also urinating and he isn't having trouble with it being blocked.

He has a mixture of dry and wet. However, he has been munching more dry of late. He seems to be going through a phase with the wet. As he's been so poorly of late, I've gone and got him some chicken for tea tonight. :)
