Spraying cat!

Bob the cat was neutered at 5 months old and shares a house with us and two older cats, he's now 3 years old. He's a fairly dominant cat with the other two and very confident. However, we've just moved house and he's started spraying. We've bought diffusers, got a couple of litter trays and are sticking to normal feeding routines but the little sod is still spraying. Any ideas on how to stop him? He will improve once he's allowed back out, but need to stop him in the meantime.

I suspect he wants to be only cat now that they're all stuck inside and is spraying to show his displeasure. How does he seem to get on with the other two and do they all mingle freely inside the house?

(You could probably do with another tray or two for the duration as well - two isn't really enough with three cats. The standard rule of thumb is one per cat plus one.)

When is their date for going outside?

He generally gets on with the other two, but will boss them about occasionally. It's a big house so plenty of room for them to all have their own space. We only moved on Saturday so got a bit of time before they can go out and play. The other two could go out sooner, as home is where I am and we've moved with them before, but Bob hasn't moved house before.

I'd get a couple of cheap extra trays (you can usually find them in Poundland or equivalents), and grit your teeth/scrub until you can let them out and the situation is diluted. I reckon that at the moment, he's bossing but 'they're still not going - so take that!!'

Other posters will likely have other views though.

I will pick up some more trays. He is a little sod. When he was a kitten, he was fondly known as The Dark Destroyer.

Little blighter!

(They're one thing I've never minded buying extra of. They're such a handy shape and of such durable plastic that once no longer needed and given a good scrub, they're suitable for a multitude of household and garden uses. At cozietowers, the problem can sometimes be to find one spare that's not already in use.)
