Blood in cat poo....

Hello, my cat who is normally very good at not pooing in the house (usually goes outside) has pooed twice inside in last 24 hours, the second time when I was cleaning it up I noticed some blood in the stool.

Am a bit scared now, anyone know what this could be? He seems otherwise fine, eating normally and not outwardly ill.

I wouldn't worry too much (could be something such as gastrointestinal infection or gastroenteritis) would get it checked out.

Does the cat have diarrhoea with blood or normal faeces with blood? If it normal faeces is it very hard? When did last worm your cat?

Is your cat struggling to poo? Ours had this and she had an infection. Was easily treated and nothing serious.

Trip to the vet is probably best to get checked out.

Thanks, the poo doesn't look hard (soft but not diarrhoea) but didn't see him go so don't know if he strained!!

I have wormed him today as he was due anyway, like he said he seems fine in himself. Will see how he goes over next 24 hrs and take to vet if there is any more or if he seems poorly I think.

I wonder if this is part of the problem with my boy as well, he is moulting a lot at the moment!! He did throw up a hair ball not so long ago as well the joys of owning a cat!! Will ring vets tomos.

Can't believe I am actually considering getting another one soon....

our cat had this... it turned out to be colitis in her case. The vets gave her antibiotics but it kept happening - in the end we switched her to a hypoallergenic cat food (James Wellbeloved) and that seemed to sort it out. Good luck :-)

I was going to say what oakster said. I had a cat with colitis. I had to feed her a very plain diet. Please go and get it checked out, just for peace of mind.

I'm sure worming can cause this. Keep an eye on any other poops and try not to worry too much. How is kitty today?
