Mouse under the cooker

Yes, a live mouse thread, so to speak.

Cat arrived in with a very jumpy mouse, which has just managed to dive for cover under the cooker.

Go upstairs/to another room with a shuttable door - with cat - and leave a door open downstairs. If it's an outside mouse, it should head back out again.

Or, alternatively - and if you don't need to cook - shut the cat in the kitchen and let them deal with the matter.

We had one in the dining room last week. Left the cat in there to chase him out, then when it emerged, clonked it over the head!

Mouse traps are now set behind the cooker with DS's easter egg as bait.

The cat was a bit useless. Don't know how it managed to catch it in the first place.

Bread crusts - and apparently peanut butter is really attractive to them. The odds are, though, that it will sit and starve rather than relax and eat. Or may even have already died of shock - or injuries from being biffed by the cat. (I recall smelling that gassy smell in the hall once. It took me three days to track it down to where The Lodger had chased his (ex) prey.)
