My pair are 7 months old and have been using successfully open trays since we had them. I moved the tray to the door, then outside the door and they continued to use them but rain made this impossible so I dug up some of the beds in the garden and took the trays away. I thought they had it sussed until I found piles of poo on one part of the lawn!

Anyway I have bought a hooded/cat flap style tray and have introduced this to them slowly and I think they got it so I started putting it outside when they go out and it seems they are using it. Forgot to bring the tray in last night when they came in and this morning, one of them dashed out and pooed on the lawn again, rather than in the tray that was outside.

How do I teach them that the hooded tray is the only loo? Or even better, to poo in the garden in the soil?

Hi Not

It's sounding to me as if they would rather go (or at least have the option of so doing) inside the house and that they're doing dash and splashes because they don't like going outside.

Is there no way you could stay with an inside tray - or two, seeing as you have a pair of cats?
