My poor girl has to be put to sleep today.

I'm breaking my heart, poor thing is only 5 months old.

She has kidney failure which is not going to get better but worse.

Thanks for the support in my other threads.

It feels life is cruel forcing you into a decision you don't want to have to make, but if the cat is suffering, there is no choice. She looks so lovely and so young. But if she was suffering and going to get worse, you weren't left with any option but to spare her.

I had to make the same choice recently. It feels different without a furry character around the house. Of course I want my old pal back and no other can replace my dude, but in time I can see another cat forcing it's way into our lives.

I think it's very imaginative how you've helped your children cope with the cat's passing. I would think another cat who finds themselves in your home would have landed happily on it's four paws.
