Regret having cat neutered

Before the op she was a lively loving kitten, but since her op on Friday all she has done is slept.

She is off her food ( been to the vets)

I just want my old kitty back.

Three days is really not long since the op. She just needs some time to recover, and some sleep! She'll be back to her old self very soon, honest Smile.

And, honestly, you've done the responsible thing. (Said the person with a pregnant cat... Blush)

It happens, I hope you find loving homes for the kittens.

I don't think she likes the cone, but it's for her own good so she doesn't get an infection.

Three days really isn't long,depending on the cat (a GA can take them all very differently) - but just having the cone on would likely make her miserable as sin. How soon can it come off ?

Please remember she has had a hysterectomy if she was human she would probably still be in hospital and even if out would have been told not to lift anything heavy for 6 weeks.

I feel a bit better now, I thought I damaged her forever.

Can have the cone off in 6 days.

Thanks HadABadDay - actually the pg is planned: posh Burmese cat mated with another posh cat Smile. We're thrilled, actually, and a queue is forming for any kittens I can bear to hand over!

Goodness, No. As soon as she's over the GA - and the cone is off - she'll be a different cat.

I'd have said probably not. Did the vet suggest anything and was she showing any signs of being sore? My best bet would be that the cone is really depressing her and that the sooner you can get it off the better. (My own boys refuse to wear them.)

Try her without the cone, mine ignored her stitches so the vet gave me a cone I never used.

I'd try her without it as well - at least until I saw how she was getting on. (And if I was going to be around and could keep an eye on her.)

My kitten was not herself for a week after being spayed but then she was back to her naughty self! When she was sleeping all the time DS told me he didn't like this personality, he wanted the old one back :)

Oh and we didn't use the cone at all - the vet gave it to me but said just to use it if she licked her stitches, which she didn't.

Yes thanks Cozie, she is fine...the one who now attacks me. It's her first birthday on Saturday so was done quite a while ago now.

Actually, she didn't really attack yesterday, I mostly ignore her whilst she was on my lap and when she started gently nibbling my arm I just put them behind my back and she stopped :)

I'd put her down and say a firm NO if I were you. Cats frequently test the boundaries so it might be best not to ignore any 'toes over the line'. (Otherwise they could quickly become paws and then whole bodies!)

She seems better without the cone on. Eating a bit better now I put her back on normal food.

The vet gave us some other food, which is high in nutrition ( we use whiskers kitten pouches with dry kitten biscuits)

That's good - all you should do at this stage is keep a weather eye on her to ensure that she's not worrying her stitches. (The odd lick doesn't matter, I reckon.)

The vet gave me some special high nutrition/easy passage food for Seniorboy. He despised it. (Just a warning - she might love it after all.)

She seems a bit better today, still not doing much other than eating a little and sleeping.

Seems to be enjoying the tv

I feel for you as when I collected one of mine from the vets she gave me a look that could kill and her eyes were watery for a couple of days like she was crying. I felt bloody awful. She also seemed in pain when she moved for several days. My other cat recovered within minutes of surgery. I wondered at the difference and it seems recovery is affected by a number of factors including the type of drugs used during surgery and types of pain relief.

She fully recovered, just a bit slowly. So hang in there. I've witnessed one of my cats go into full blown heat after a spay failed, and she looked so uncomfortable and was off her food whilst howling for boys. You have saved her from going through that repeatedly.

My girl was definitely rather sad for three or four days, but soon bounced back to her normal furry self. Hope it's the same for your kitty.

The cone have been off since Tuesday.

Only time will tell.
