Are your cats big cuddlers?

We have two - boycat and girlcat. Brother and sister from the same litter. They'll be a year old in two weeks.

Girlcat is ridiculously fussy and will only come for attention on her terms, but when she wants attention, she loves it and will happily come for cuddles or whatever.

Boycat is just a big soppy baby. He was the runt of the litter and every morning, he jumps on me in bed and lies on my chest and nuzzles at me while purring in my ear. He also follows me absolutely everywhere and jumps on me for cuddles when he so chooses all the time then

Her Mistyness will cuddle when she wants, and it is very difficult to stop her. Yesterday I was watching TV and ended up with her snuggled up using my right breast for a pillow.

This week she has decided that sleeping on my pillow is 'so last year' so sleeps on me.

I wake up in the night needing a pee and find a cat attached to my shoulder. Fortunately she is quite small and light.

Cuddling in bed with me all through the night - and at other times when they can get away with it. I've had that since childhood with one cat or another, to the point that if a cat doesn't cuddle, I wonder what's wrong.

Our two orientals are.

The big moggy is on his own terms - he will sit on knees if he wants to (usually if he's cold or if I'm wearing a dressing gown). He would probably sleep next to us on the bed but he kneads whenever he's near me and he annoys me. He wouldn't like to be cuddled in bed though. When he was a tiny kitten he used to sleep on my neck.

Girlcat shut up at night as she will jump on you and lick you death at 4am. She does head straight for bedroom first thing and will demand attention.
Rest of the day she likes being close to people but saves here most cuddliness for DH and Ds, Although i fid get a help text ftom dd as she had fallen asleep on dds bottom while dd was lying on floor

She was lying on the floor watching tv/texting/fb .Shes 16 she is permantly attached to phone. I was at work so couldnt do anything. She even sent me picciesGrin

No. Neither of mine are.Sad I've always had lap cats but the closest these two will get is a snooze next to me. They are a boy (huge ginger rescue) and a girl (petite black and white rescue), not related. Boy is currently next to me on the bed purring. Girl can't bear to be picked up, it really upsets her.

I miss having a warm furry ball on my lap.

Fat old cat is a good cuddler in bed, she has her 'spot' next to my pillow.

Boycat only lets you cuddle him when its convenient for him and its usually one minute per day.

How long have you had them? It can take some cats a while to trust.

(Although some of them just ain't cuddlers, I'm afraid. Sitting next to you may be a huge vote of love for you.)

I've had both for few Yeats now, so it's definitely their nature. Of course, snoozing next to me is lovely and is.get version of a full-on cuddle. I just miss having a lap-cat. We've had various cats over the years and they've all loved sleeping on a lap in the evening.

Girl cat only when it suits, although if I'm wearing my dressing gown she'll paddle for hours, tho she cuddles my feet every night in bed Grin

Boy cat would sit on me all day every day if he could. He has been known to sit half on me half on my laptop when I'm working, in protest that he isn't getting any attention ...

Both our boys will climb into any lap that sits down in our house. Boy 2 is a pain in the arse though because he kneads constantly and accompanies the kneading with high-pitched yelps of pleasure. Boy 1 will often hold on to clothing with his claws if you try to get up or put him down and pretty much has to be tipped onto the floor.

They're both Bengals from the same breeder and all the kittens were handled as potential show cats so needed to be happy to be groomed, picked up and fondled.

My parents' cat won't cuddle or stand being picked up but adores sitting next to people. Some cats just aren't lap cats I guess.

AwkwardCat is not snuggly at all. She's a rescue cat and we got her when she was about two. She is very affectionate on her own terms, though. She usually sits near us, she sleeps on the bed at night, she loves head rubs and she often flumps over and shows us her belly. I'm the only one who's allowed to give her a belly rub though Grin.

Ours likes to snuggle but only on me. He will sit near dh but not on him.

I knew DH was a keeper one day when the cat was fast asleep on my knee on the sofa and I couldn't reach my cup of coffee without disturbing the cat - DH just got up, came over, passed me my drink and went and sat back down Grin

Ours are both rescues.

My younger one loves cuddles. We've had him from a kitling and he will cuddle anyone who sits still long enough. He loves attention in any form- the 7 yr olds down the street would carry him like a baby!

The older one is much more aloof. He was about 10 when he came to us and likes his own space-we're privileged if he sits next to us or on the back of the sofa when we're there. He doesn't like being picked up and we just let him get on with it-he's much better behaved than his little brother who I'm constantly plucking off the dining table!

My younger cat - who came to us as a 7 week old stray - is hugely affectionate, he follows me around, loves sitting on laps and also lies in my arms like a baby. At night he quite often sneaks under the duvet & curls up against my side, neither of my other 2 cats ever did this.

My surviving old boy cat is affectionate too, always has been but I think al ot of it now is because he's blind - so he likes a lot of strokes in order to reassure him that we haven't walked off & left him on the sofa by himself Smile

cozie - Duds is still quite feisty & tends to ambush the old boy which leads to a bit of distress sometimes, but Duds also quite often seeks out old boy, licks him all over & curls up next to him for a snooze, old boy doesn't move away so I guess he might even like the company Smile

Clever cat sleeps under the duvet giving me acupuncture on my belly at night, whilst Thicko cat dry humps my right foot.

On the plus Clever cat has recently realised the joys of a lap cuddle now that I've forgotten to buy heating oil and you can see our breath when we exhale! Brrr!

The problem with ambushing is that cats tend to do it, even in play, without noise - so the old boy would get a bit of a shock each time to be lying - dozing, say - and suddenly have a Dudley pouncing on him with no warning. If he lets himself be licked and snoozed next to though, I reckon he likes him. Even a blind cat would protest or move away eventually if he was unhappy with it.

Cat1 is a cuddly girl - but only sometimes and very much on her own terms, she'll stay on your lap for over an hour getting her head rubbed but at other times will run like hell everytime you move.

Cat2 hasn't let us touch her in the nine months we've had her. Poor girl is still terrified of all humans.

Our old boy (RIP) was amazingly cuddly - would lie between our pillows at night and cuddle into our side during the day. I miss him.

The cat we are adopting still hasn't been able to come home yet, he needed dental treatment, antibiotics and vaccinations which has delayed him for a few weeks. In that time I have been visiting him at his foster carers and he has been massively affectionate.

He is in a cat pen because he can't be near the other cats till his course of antibiotics has finished. He has an arrangement of shelves and walkways in there, when I go in he is often on one the height of my head, on my last visit he licked my nose when I said hello to him.

At the start of the visit he always likes to be picked up and cuddled, when he is finished with that he gets on his middle heigh shelf then lays on his side and kneads my stomach while having his head rubbed.

On one of the visits I tried playing with him with a cat nip toy, I brought it for him as a present and he was interested enough to take it out the bag himself but he only played with it for about two minutes before deciding having his head rubbed was far more important.

He is three years old and a former stray, they are not sure if he has ever had a proper home. I was told he had never been to a vets before. I think he is making up for all the attention he has missed out on.

He is coming home on Sunday, I can't wait. It will be lovely to have him curled up next to me on the sofa or sleeping on the end of our bed.
