Letting kitty's out for first time

2 7 month old kitties are due to be spayed within 2 weeks

Can anyone offer any advice about letting them outside like when is the best time in day, will they come back, do they need collars ( they are microchipped)

It looks like they are 27 months... They are 7 months.

Hi, I have three cats, one is seven months and juat been neutered. I have't let her out yet(although she is desperate to go) because she is just so loopy still,

I am planning to wait for nicer weather a d when she first goes out will make it midday ...ish.

My eldest cat roams freely...coming bqck just to use the litter tray and to eat. The second cat rarely bothers with outside unless the sun is out. I shut them all in at night.

I would avoid rush hour timea when the roads are busier...I lost a seven month old cat to a road accident 7 years ago.

If they are not spayed - don't let them out. My female cat went on heat at 4 months old. Six months is around the usual. Your cats are very capable of making babies at 7 months.

Collars are debateable - they can get caught up and strangle a cat. On the other hand it does send the message that they aren't feral.

With the allowing out - do it when they have an empty stomach, and then call them in for feeding. This way you may get some control regarding when you want them in! But again, may be not.

We let ours out on a weekend morning when he was hungry. He'd spent so long looking out the windows he seemed to know the area quite well, and he was a much happier cat for it to.

We let her out for longer periods each day once our kitten was over her op. I kept her in the garden at first as she's quite a small kitty (had to rescue from up the tree a few times!!). She just found her confidence slowly and we gave her a safe route in and out of the garden by lowering one of the fence panels . The first time over the fence was She's always in overnight.

We don't have a collar for her but she's microchipped.
