My cat's been missing for a week :(

I've leafletted our street, the street behind ours (whose gardens back on to ours) and a couple of other close streets. I've posted on missing cat websites, contacted the locals CPL, what else can I do? Is it just a case of sitting and waiting? I hate sitting around doing nothing. So sad our little ginger boy has gone. Every time the wind blows the cat flap I think he's come home [hmm]

Oh dear, all the rain makes it difficult for them if they get lost. Is he chipped?

Phone the local vets in the area/ put up a card on their notice board.keep phoning them- other pet owners are good finders of strays
Contact any other animal shelters
Advertise on local gumtree
Look and register on Catchat website lost and found.
Keep calling and don't give up hope just yet.

Do not lose hope. My cat went missing a few times last year and the last time was Dec 26th and didn't return until Jan 18th!

Over the next few days i'd go about walking to places he'd likely go. Maybe if he picks up your smell he will return.

I had lost hope but then there was a post on Facebook with a picture of him and the poster asking if anyone knew who's cat it was. She had found him at her back door and had taken him in for a few days. She said she was going to go to vet to check for a chip that eveining if no-one replied to the facebook post.

He actually turned up at her back door again a few days ago! So now she has my number to txt me if he goes back there. Little bugger.

Is your cat chipped? Try not to worry, im sure he is on a wee adventure. xx

He is chipped thankfully. But presumably only animal owners know about taking strays to the vets to check for a chip? I work stupidly long shifts so on my working days I don't really have spare time to wander about, and as luck would have it it's chucked it down every day I've not been at work, grrr!

I will try the vet closest to us, and I might put a couple of posters on lamp posts in the area, I guess most people ignore them but it's worth a try.

We fed a cat that kept turning up cold and wet at our door before Christmas (he wasn't chipped so we posted a pic on a lost cat website and took care of him until his owner claimed him) and when we finally tracked her down he'd been gone for 10 weeks!!! Gives me hope that Sam is just enjoying someone else's hospitality for a while (ignoring the fact that if he was they'd surely have checked for a chip )

Does your town have its own facebook page? I've seen lost cats reunited on ours.

If you have an RSPCA branch near you they should also have a Facebook page and you can put a photo and details on your cat on.

Hope he comes home soon.

Put his picture on Facebook, not only the town Facebook page but all the buy and sell sites (best chance of reaching a lot of people). Ensure you add your contact details to the post as the post gets shared it can become less clear who posted it initially.

If your town has a local Cats Protection branch webpage, post on there and the people who are linked to them will share it.

I share a couple of lost or found cat posts every day, pretty much everyone I know who has a cat will share them so it is great way of reaching the maximum number of people.

Good luck, I hope he is home soon.

Don't give up hope - our cat went missing 3 years ago at the age of 16.

She'd stopped going out as much as we had a kitten for a while, and didn't like being jumped on, so presumably didn't have any scent marks to find her way home.

It was warm and sunny when she went missing and then went cold and windy for the 2 weeks she was away.

She's fine now, except that she's got rather clingy. She wants to come on my knee all the time and is very very jealous of the laptop.

One of ours went missing for a couple of weeks and came home stinking of beer, we think he'd be shut in the cellar of the local pub.
