Cat favouritism - I'm jealous

My cat adores DH and practically ignores me. She gets on his knee, rubs his face and then sits there giving him goo-goo eyes. Yes, I'm jealous.

I feed her and look after her, but she is ungrateful. DH finds the constant attention annoying but she persists.

Does anyone else have a cat like this?

Our cat does this to me but ignores dh. If I'm not there he'll sit by dh but not on him.

I always put it down to me feeding him.

Cat normally do have a favourite. We had a very neurotic cat who would always go to my mum. We put it down to the fact my mum carried her home.

One of our cats just adores me. I didn't even want cats in the first place but have had them 12 years now and love them like my children.

Our boy cat will even sit outside my home office door all day while I work. (He doesn't like the laminate floor in my office!)
I can call him and he will jump off whoever he is near just in case I might pay him some attention!

Bearing in mind DH trained him and socialised him after we got him from the rescue it does seem a bit unfair.

Mine used to favour me, now it's DH, but I'll do if he's not there! She gets very jealous if we show our other cat any affection, which is really funny, she's senses the other one being stroked from a mile off and nudges your hand until you turn your attention to her Grin

I never knew cats felt jealousy Smile

My cat does this but goes one step further and actively hunts and agressively attacks me. He regularly really hurts me. Hes 11 now and i cant imagine him improving. He will come to me for affection but i have to be really careful as it quickly turns to violence. Dp says he is 'playing'. He is not.

We have two cats who both like DP more than me. To be fair he got them before I moved in (but we were in a relationship so I was involved in getting them from the shelter and saw them quite a lot when they were new. (I moved in 6 months after we got the younger one)

I get home from work before DP two days a week & although I feed them & make a fuss of them, they genuinely don't care & sit in the window looking sad until DP's car pulls up. The youngest cat also won't leave him alone whenever he sits on the sofa, she always has to be on him or rubbing her face on him. She's obsessed.

I think my last cat favoured me but then I was much more tolerant of her covering my clothes in fur etc so thought it was mostly pragmatic behaviour by the cat - she would sit on the knee she was less likely to get booted off.

I think it's become more pronounced since I've been pregnant - I swear she knows.

Oh yes my cat loves my husband, when he is not around she will sit with me and come to me, but as soon as he gets home she only wants to be with him.
