My cat Whisky was 17 and a half and I had to put her to sleep this morning, it was not a difficult decision but it's a difficult day...We had been together for more than half of my adult life, long before husband, children...feeling very sad

You ok TheDudes? How you feeling today?

I love the fact that Whisky was purring to you at the end, that's lovely, or as lovely as it can be, given the circumstances.

My Nan had a corgi dog called Whisky. I never got to meet it though. Nippy little thing by all accounts

So sorry about Whisky :-( I had to have my 20 year old tortoiseshell put down 2 years ago (can't believe it's been 2 years!). Like you, I had her way before i met DH and had the children. We went through a lot together. Hope you are feeling ok today.

Just looked at her photo - what a beauty! X

Yes she was a beautiful cat, with a particularly amazing coat, right up until about four years ago years ago when she stopped grooming herself so we had to keep it short. We are feeling a bit better today but DH and I still in very sad mode! But a good thing is that I have found a Mumsnetter to take all the equipment that Whisky had in the end (furry beds, fleece jackets, heated pads etc) and she is Mumsnetter who looks after rescue cats, so at least that is something nice to be gleaned from a horrible weekend!
