Just dry food?

I have a 4.5 year old female moggy who's always been fed on wet and dry food. She seems to have really gone off the wet lately though. She only eats a couple of dessert spoons of it before leaving the rest. She devours the dry though. If it's a good quality dry i.e iams, can i just give her that? Thanks

Mine lives on dry food, with the occasional bit of ham.

My 1yr moggy is on dry food only now, Purina adult chicken, (bought salmon once and couldnt take the mournfull looks). She wasn't bothered about the wet food at all, just licked the gravy off and went to eat grass...

Ok, I might give up on the wet altogether then! I'm sick of the tins hanging around in the fridge. Thanks both

"Ling,* my two have gone exactly like yours - completely going off the wet. I kept putting it down and it was going to waste. I decided to take the wet away completely for two days - just giving plenty of water and dry. This morning I thought I'd give the wet one last go as I hadn't put it down for a couple of days. They both wolfed it down.

Mine only eats Iams - she only used to lick the gravy off the wet stuff! Vet says fine if high quality dry food eg Iams, science diet etc

Mine has only dry, I give her James wellbeloved, she seems more then happy with no wet food, she went right off it before we decided to scrap it

All my cats have only eaten dry food (IAMS or Hills). Maybe an occasional Sheba as a treat. The vet reckons it's better for their teeth.

Mine only has dry (Hills Science plan). Most people I know with cats only give them dry food, albeit a decent one (Hills, Royal Canin, Purina)

Another one whose cat will only eat dry food, after her first few months with us eating anything. James Wellbeloved turkey is her favourite.

Many cats loved dry cat food, but it's quite filling so might be worth giving less. You could always try another wet cat food.

My female kept getting cystitis about three years (her symptons are constantly trying to go every two minutes and within an hour she's passing clots of blood - it can go on over a month until it resolves). My vet told me she would rather see a cat on cheap wet food than dry due to the fact that even if they are good drinkers, they will take on 50% less liquid than if on wet. I was told to stop dry altogether - she also has treatment which prevents irritation on the bladder, but it's completely stopped now. If they get plenty of moisture in their diet, it helps flush through the bladder quicker preventing irritation and perhaps crystals forming which can cause blockages. It's just something that's worth bearing in mind, as believe me it's not pleasant. After this, I've always said I would never feed another cat on dry and both of mine are on wet.
