Staywell PetPod - where on earth do I put the batteries?

Title says it all. We have just bought a petPod and the instruction booklet is for a dog door. I don't want to break it before we have even used it, so wanted to know if anyone has one of these and what I open to insert the batteries? The instructions online are also useless for this- gah! Thank you.
