Wheezing when purring?

DH put Girlcat out last night because she was retching and he didn't want her to vomit on the rug. She came in this morning and she was wheezy, although eating, drinking and being her usual self. She's wheezed a bit all day but it's only when she purrs, there does't seem to be any other problems with her breathing and she sounds fine when not purring. What could it be? Do I need to take her to the vet in the morning?

I'd ring them yes. You shouldn't wheeze & she might have something in her making her do it.

Retching and intermittent wheezing? I'd take her, yes. It almost sounds as if she has something stuck.

She's pretty much back to normal this morning apart from a couple of coughs when she tried to purr at deafening volumes. I guess she must have had a hair ball or eaten a small rodent and had something scratch her throat.

BikeCat has always wheezed when he purrs. I think he might be allergic to fur...,

Seriously though, if the wheezing is new, then best get her seen by a vet.

That sounds better but keep a close eye on her.
