Don't use bleach, it's really toxic to them and he'll ingest it while grooming.

Washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle works well as a cleaner.

5 months is only a baby really.

This keeps coming up. I can't help as my cats practically live on my kitchen work tops (see my photos for proof!). I don't really mind and it doesn't seem to have done me any harm. So my advice would be just 'relax'. Not really that helpful I realise ....

Cats love surfaces and being high up and if it smells of food to boot, then it's a given! Shut the kitchen door, or use flash wipes and don't feed it in the kitchen.
