Awful awful weekend :(

One of my cats started with vomiting Wednesday. I tried her on cooked chicken Thursday night and she ate a bit, but nothing on Friday. So Saturday night with was off to the vets. They gave her some stomach settling medication and an injection.
No improvement by Sunday night so we took her back in. She was dehydrated, and have now been diagnosed with acute kidney failure. She is on IV fluids and dialysis.

I am so so sad and worried, we are still hoping but it's not looking good :(

Just caught up with this thread and so very glad to hear the positive outcome. hope she continues to improve and there is no long term ill effects.

I didn't know about raisins either. Thank you for that one.

Dcat had another blood test last night, sadly her creatinine levels are heading up again. She wasn't really eating over the weekend, hiding a lot, and just not herself. She's back in the vet on another drip.
Hoping and praying she recovers, but if she has no quality of life then we will have to PTS.
Few tears shed at work today.

Aw Dear. Sad

MyCatLovesMeSometimes · 26/11/2013 12:56

Sorry to hear that. It's horrible for you all.

talulahbelle · 26/11/2013 19:52

The vets just called - latest bloods not in yet as their machine stopped working but they will be back tomorrow. But her urine is too dilute, showing her kidneys are unable to concentrate waste from her blood effectively. Apparently she's just sitting there in the cage in the hospital. It's not looking good - we will know more tomorrow. Sad

Thinking of you. Let us know how things go.

talulahbelle · 28/11/2013 19:13

She is not concentrating urine at all - it's coming out like water. She has been on a drip and is now fully rehydrated and feels a lot better, but it wont last.. she just doesn't have enough kidney function left.

So Dcat is back home for tonight and is being spoiled with nice food and treats. One last night on our bed and lots of strokes and fuss.

Tomorrow night she has her final trip to the vet booked in.

It's just as My Darling Twoago was. So sorry, talulahbelle. Thinking of you.

Dcat is eating all the Felix she wants - normally a Sunday treat. She has a choice of toys and fresh cat nip, and has had a fair few cuddles. She's now curled up in her bed in our room where she normally spends the night.
DH, normally not that emotional, emailed me a poem about her he wrote that reduced me to tears. Poor Dcat, life is very unfair.

Applecrumbly

(And sorry for the hijack tallulah.)

Raisins and grapes can be toxic to dogs and cats leading to acute renal failure. The cause is unknown as far as I'm aware. Looks like you've got away with it if Cleo is well but don't feed her any more.
