missing cat

My cat hasn't come home this morning. We've had her a year but she's only been going out for about the last 3 months. She's spends all night out but is always waiting for us in the morning. Where could she be? I feel really anxious......

Oh dear. It's so worrying isn't it? I'm sure she'll be fine. Do let us know.

Does she have a cat flap? If not I wouldn't be letting her out at night at all. It's a long time to be out, especially in this weather, and of course night is when most road accidents happen.

Try not to worry though. I'm sure she'll turn up very soon.

She does have a cat flap. As far as I know she goes round the back and doesn't really go near the road. But how would I know what she gets up to? I feel sick, I just can't imagine where she's gone. She's fairly timid and only goes out under cover of darkness. I've had a look round the estate but there is no sign. Just been out and saw a black cat down the road and my heart leapt, but it wasn't her......

Oh dear. If she's not back by tomorrow I'd put up a few posters and leaflets through neighbours' doors. Ask them to check their sheds and garages. Cats often get shut in places by accident.

Is she chipped?

hemel07 · 15/11/2013 19:48

Yes she is chipped. Good idea about leaflets. Will do that tomorrow. Thankyou for being concerned. I haven't had a cat for years and I've forgotten how awful this kind of thing is.

Have you phoned the microchip company to report her lost & make sure they have all the correct contact numbers for you?

My 18 month old tabby boy went missing in feb. We got two new kittens in June as I hated a catless house. Last Friday my 6 month old tabby boy went missing :(
I've put adverts on gumtree, registered him on animal search uk, petslocated, told vets, rescue centres, the lot. Did all that as well when my other boy went missing. Nada.
Dh thinks there's a cat hoarder nearby. Don't know why they didn't want my tortie girl, but I'm happy I still have her.
Hope your cat turns up soon, it's heartbreaking isn't it? X

It really is heartbreaking. Just got everything crossed that she will turn up in the morning. Going to have a walk round and knock on some doors too.

So sorry to hear this Sad I really hope you find her

And I hope your boy returns too kelper

Chesntoots · 15/11/2013 23:34

Its horrible when they wander off. Both of mine have done that this year. I was in bits.

I wish someone would invent a tiny gps like their identichip.

I hope both of them come wandering back soon. Hopefully not with stuck on poo bits like mine did, though.

Great news!!!! The cat in the hat came back!!!!! At 04:30 this morning. She seems totally unfazed and not in the least bothered about the upset she's caused. She is grounded!!! Thanks for all your support.

Phew! I'm so glad to hear the little madam is back - good idea to ground her for a while Grin.

cozietoesie · 16/11/2013 08:58

Great!

thecatneuterer · 16/11/2013 12:37

Oh that's such a relief. I was thinking about you last night. I know how awful the worry is. I've lost a lot of cats temporarily (but then I have a lot of cats to lose!) but with the help of neighbours I've always got them back (although one did take about five years - the old lady down the road only thought to ask me if he was mine when he needed to go to the vet Hmm )
