Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde

I should have named our cat Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde!

he is mad. I am wondering if I have accidently got two cats! One with big green eyes who loves me and one with wide black eyes who wants to kill me!

He goes for me when I am:

using a J-cloth or wipe on a table
trying to get him out if the hall or into a room
wearing long sleeves that come almost over my hands!!!

Any advice. 90% of time he is most loving and wonderful. 10% I almost wish we were a cat-free zone!

He is almost 7 and a half months, neutered and mad!

Any advice, please (sadly I can't afford a Felliaway massively expesnive air thing). Even if I could I am not sure I think they work!

Any tips please from the amazing cat mumsnetters, please?

Sounds normal to me. My cat likes the motion of cleaning so he'll go wide eyed when I'm wiping or mopping.

When he was a kitten did you do playing with hands? Ie tummy rubs where he was allowed to bite or chase the finger up the bannister?

Italiangreyhound · 14/11/2013 17:59

We did not. But he has always tried to bite and scratch and it drives me mad. Other people's catd don;t seem to do this.

my big ginger and white hooligan can go from the most loving cat ever to eyes go evil and im gonna swipe you and bite you in about 3 seconds flat, luckily for me i know exactly when hes going to do it so quick move hands and safe for now

I'm looking out for an answer to this as well. My little looney is the same age, spayed and healthy. In the mornings she is super loving but then she can be down right nasty later on in the day! We always put it down to the fact she's a tortie!

Thanks, wow issey6cats mine is ginger and white too!!!

WakeyCakey mine is opposite mad in the mornings and lovely later on!

Don't forget he's still very young, everything is to be pounced on just in case this time it's a mouse.

Thanks all.

Hmm was watching a TV show today about cats who went for their owners and the advice was to play with the cat more and also to feed cat chicken whilst wearing gloves so cat associated hands with smell of chicken!

Seemed to work...

BigPawsBrown · 17/11/2013 02:17

My 5 year old ginger bastard still does this. He is worse when he's been bored/in all day/ignored.

This is the link to 'My cat from hell' if anyone's interested. The guy, Jackson Galaxy is amazing, he's like a cat whisperer but he looks like a deviant goth with ratios and a goatee ...
