4 yr old cat has lump in his bowel :(

after months of tests have finally discovered he has a lump in his cecum.....now waiting for pathology results.....

Apparently vet world is "abuzz" about it as it's so rare, so feline specialists are being consulted, thank god!

Has anyone had any similar experience?

obviously am hoping for benign outcome, but has anybody been in situation where it's malignant? anyone been through oncology with a cat?

My own experience - with cats and humans both - is that serious things manifest seriously.

it's been months of diorrhea and bleeding, after trying various things, tests, and having a scan, he had an endoscopy last week which showed IBD but also a lump in his intestine, now waiting pathology results.....

On a slightly positive note, it's apparently so rare that the vet world is "abuzz" and feline specialists are being consulted all over the place....

Just wondered if anyone had had any experience of surgery to have something like this removed and/or chemotherapy/laser?

Why would it be a positive that it is 'so rare' , I would think that's a negative as the vets will have less experience of dealing with it and less knowledge of the outcome. FWIW my mums cat has had 2 bowel resections and is missing much of his bowel ,they were both done when he was 16/17 weeks old and . They were not malignancy related . He is about 12 now and still has a temperamental bowel and issues with food .good luck with your cat .

I've only a little experience of cancer in cats - but much experience in family members.

I'd have it removed right away if the pathology results are.....not good. He's had months of diarrhoea and, cats being such clean animals, that would make his life miserable.

Think of him and ignore any excitement from the vets.
