Because I'm getting a bit sick of him stretching all my clothes now & having to carry him around under my jumper if I dare to move.

Since the weather turned he's taken to climbing inside whatever I'm wearing and is currently, despite already being inside my jumper, trying to wriggle his way down through the neck of my t-shirt. Where he will no doubt then demonstrate how much he loves me by clawing at my bare skin!

I'm thinking one of those soft, stretchy wraps may be the only way to go, then I might actually be able to make & enjoy a cup of coffee! Maybe I'll start a new trend of cat-wearing & attachment cat care!

He's the first cat I've ever had & I'm coming to the conclusion that they are very strange creatures!

Do you have any fires on around the place that he could disport in front of? Alternatively, I'd be getting a heat pad/hottie and putting it in a box somewhere with a blanket or fleece. Just to get the freedom to actually do something.

There's a heater on right next to the extra fluffy bed with several blankets I bought specially for him! Seems the only place good enough is in my clothes

I've seen heat pads for cats but we don't have a microwave, would a hot water bottle under his blankets be ok?

I'm only wearing a vest top right now & he's still determined to get inside

Laughing here. Sounds like you have a needy cat who's making the most of a sucker the situation.

A hottie under his blankets would be fine - just make sure it's not too hot in case he rearranges things. (And don't overfill in case he punctures it with claws. That's never happened to me but there's always a first time I suppose.)

He only came to us in February & had been moved from pillar to post before that so I worry he might feel a bit insecure. He's also a Siamese which I think I read are generally quite social cats.

DS was never a clingy baby, but the cat is more than making up for it!

I'll definitely get him a hot water bottle & see if that makes a difference.

A Siamese explains everything - he'll have just been waiting for the opportunity. Be prepared from now on for attempted closeness whenever the moon is in the right quarter. (By the way - that would be every quarter.)

Your only hopes are serious heatwaves and/or a heatpad/hottie/electric blanket. My own recommendation (from much experience) would be an electric blanket kept on low in your bed. That way he would get the heat plus that good 'Mommie' feeling.

Sorry - I should have added that Siamese are seriously trainable. As long as you're giving him a good concentrated piece of love at some point (sleeping with you fills up their tanks pretty well) then you can forbid behaviour quite firmly with little or no psychic damage. (Now that he feels he's 'home' - which may go some way to explaining his new behaviour.)

Babasling. Sturdy for claws, quick to put on and not that great for human babies so cheap on ebay.

DP has already vetoed him sleeping in the bed as he tends to jab a claw into sensitive parts at 3am

He really is a lovely cat though and I have definitely become 'mum' (DS has even started calling me 'mummy cat'!)

I'll look into making sure he's got plenty of warm places to snuggle up though & we'll continue to have plenty of cuddles in the evening.

I'll have to have a look on eBay pootle, are you speaking from experience as to cat suitability?

I've gently planted the seeds of suggestion tonight, just subtly said how clingy he's been. Tomorrow I might mention how Siamese really benefit from lots of cuddles & it makes them easy to train. I'll throw in some conversations about cold feet in bed & the poor cat being all alone.

Before you know it he'll be suggesting it to me

That's the way. (If it's any consolation, men generally fall harder for Siamese than other cats in my experience.)

Oh - and the thing about training is true. Once a Siamese is really bonded to you, they'll do near on anything to avoid Exclusion From The Presence so if that becomes the consequence of bad behaviour (scratching, biting, going on kitchen surfaces etc etc) they learn real fast. You just have to compensate them with lots of love at other times to ensure they don't feel unwanted.
