Rehoming your cat through Blue Cross. Has anyone done this?

We have come to the very difficult decision that it would be in the best interests of our two gorgeous cats for them to be rehomed. I have been researching ways to do this and like the sound of Blue Cross, as they allow you to keep your cat with you until a new owner is found, which means that any distress (for the cat) is kept to a minimum.

I wondered if anyone had any experience of rehoming their pet through Blue Cross and how long the process took?

We’ve been told by the vet that they are Maine Coon crossbreeds, nearly three years old. Very affectionate, but also very high maintenance :(

What was so high maintenance about them? I have no knowledge of the breed.

Have you thought of dropping an email to the \link{http://www.maine-coon-cat-club.com/\Maine Coon Rescue} ? I know you have crossbreeds but maybe they could give you a steer?

I'm sorry you've had to come to this decision

Ours boys came from the blue cross and a friend rehomed her cat through them as well. They gave her the option of little cat remaining at home, with people coming to see her, but she felt she couldn't cope with the emotional trauma of people coming into the house, and dealing with either them not wanting the cat, or her not liking them.

There was a Maine Coon in when we picked up the boys - she was a bit highly strung but once she was available for rehoming, she went to a new home very quickly.
