HAPPY NATIONAL BLACK CAT DAY!

Today is National Black Cat Day & I am very excited that My Darling Black!Cat has been included in the Cats Protection National Black Cat Day 2013 poster

Mr Nijinsky is the fourth picture from the right one row up from the bottom, snuggled up under my pink Royal Ballet crossover-top.

The reason for National Black Cat Day is that black cats & black-&-white cats are sadly less likely to be adopted than cats of other colours - the idea is to try to persuade people to consider adopting black[&white] cats & raise awareness of the fact that these lovely moglets are so often overlooked.

Does anyone else have a cat on the poster? And/or any tales (tails?) of their awesome black[&white] feline friends to relate.

And now, as my little black cat is plaintively meyowling "Mum" outside my door, being able to hear me type, I should be getting up to see to breakfast for my balletcats. I think perhaps something special may be in order, in celebration of NBCD...

3 out of my 4 cats are black or black and white. I think they're gorgeous. I've never understood why they get overlooked

One is a jet black Tom cat Whois beautiful but cerebrally challenged. He was a stray who turned up in our barn, we think he was thrown out of a car.

The other two are black and white girls, both rescues.
One is very shy and likes to do her own thing, the other is the newest arrival and she is a minx. She's very small and fluffy but she is a bundle of energy. She likes to sleep on the pillows between DH and I, if he snores she swipes him with a paw.

....if he snores she swipes him with a paw......

Now that is a seriously useful character trait!

Of the four cats I've fostered in the last few years, two were b/w and one was all-black (the other was a brown tabby). The sweetest, cleverest and nuttiest cat I've ever had was black with white paws and shirt-front. I like black cats best, though as a fosterer I take whatever I'm asked to take.

A friend of mine has lost two all-black cats on the roads and now says he won't adopt another black cat as he worries they are more vulnerable to RTAs at night. My view is that cats (of all colours) should be indoors at night but lots of people don't agree with me on that one.

Love my black cat. She's currently chasing a squirrel with no chance of catching it.

I spent most of yesterday amusing myself by congratulating her on her costume.

We've recently adopted a black and white tuxedo - he's 12 and has a very distinguished moustache. He's affectionate, bossy (in a good way) and likes tummy rubs.

My black and white rescue girl is asleep on the sofa next to me. She's so pretty - I really don't understand why people wouldn't love her.

I have one on the bed beside me trying to burrow under the duvet. He's a lovely big teddy cat.????

She's so cute I just want to eat her. She's doing the most adorable little kitty snores.

My sleek black boy speaks with a French accent and insists on perching on my husbands hip at night. His brother, a gorgeous tuxedo, is my one true love, and claims his spot next to me every night.

Funny story - I set up a Facebook profile for our little cutie so that DD could add her as a friend to get bonuses for a FB game we used to let DD play. Profile photo was of Roxi lolling around on her back on a cream satin quilted cover, so she stood out well & she did look lovely.

But not so lovely to as to get a friends request from some random bloke, with the message saying "hey sexy lady, I bet there is one seriously hot mama behind those sexy green eyes & soft black fur, I want to stroke your pussy so bad"

I love black cats and have been a willing slave to no less than 6 of them. My current babe Is lying on his back with his legs in the air making snuffling noises. A picture of absolute happiness

We have 3 blacks cats

Cats 2&3 are currently playing tig in the living room. Oh, no, they've stopped for a quick wash and staring match.

Cat 1 is asleep upstairs, but she is 16 1/2, so she is allowed

Our black cat is currently asleep in bed with dd1.
