Cleaning cats teeth

My vet said I should be cleaning our kittens teeth daily - I had no idea!! She's a bit of a biter and I really can't imagine this will ever be an easy job.

Alternatively we can get a cat food which is a dental one from vets.

Thought I'd ask here first before swapping food or for those of you who do clean their cats teeth, if there is a technique to it!

Sounds like a load of crap to make you buy expensive stuff from the vet! I've had cats all of my life I have never once cleaned a cats teeth and I've yet to have one with dental problems.

I must admit I was a bit Hmm but then read it up in my cat book and that also said about cleaning teeth regularly!

The dental food is Shock expensive!!

like underthebordwalk i have had cats all my life and i have never cleaned their teeth and never had a cat with bad teeth either, i just make sure the biscuits are not so small that they can swallow them without having a crunch at them (also one of mine wolfs them down and lobs them back five minutes later) this generally keeps their teeth in good order

I've tried to clean teeth once or twice and failed miserably. They weren't having any of it.

Unlike other posters, though, I have had cats with dental issues. Seniorboy came to me already getting on and already with lousy teeth - but if I get a younger cat next time, I'd be interested to know of any dental success stories from other posters.
